An Open Letter to EA About Scripting and Match Manipulation Concerns

Dear EA,

I am writing this message as one of the many loyal players who have spent years supporting your football games. We have invested our time, money, and passion into this franchise because we love the competition and the excitement it brings.

However, there is a growing concern within the community that continues to damage the player experience: the feeling that matches are being influenced by hidden mechanics, commonly referred to by players as “scripting.”

The issue is not losing matches. Every competitive game involves victories and defeats. The real problem arises when players feel that their skill, tactics, and decisions no longer determine the outcome. Too often, matches seem to change direction unexpectedly. Simple passes become inaccurate, defenders stop reacting, attackers miss easy chances, and goalkeepers behave inconsistently during crucial moments.

When players dedicate countless hours to improving their skills and building stronger teams, they expect results to reflect their performance on the pitch. Instead, many feel that external factors are influencing matches in ways that cannot be explained by gameplay alone.

Whether these experiences are caused by game mechanics, server issues, momentum systems, or other hidden factors, the lack of transparency creates frustration and distrust. Players deserve clear communication regarding the systems that affect gameplay and match outcomes.

What the community wants is simple: a fair and competitive environment where skill is the deciding factor. Wins should feel earned, and losses should feel deserved. When players believe that hidden mechanics are influencing results, the integrity of competition is called into question.

EA has built one of the largest football gaming communities in the world. We hope you will listen to the concerns of your players, improve transparency, and continue working toward a gameplay experience that rewards skill above all else.
