Defensive AI is a constant FC problem. EA FC invests in an offensive strategy and counterattacks while defensive tactics have not improved for years. Authentic mode didn't solve that problem.
The biggest mistake is the weak aggressiveness of AI defenders in critical situations and the lack of fouls. I increased CPU tackle aggression to 98-99, but it doesn't help so much. Besides that, clubs with skill 69 and lower don't commit fouls at all. Sometimes I play three to four games in a row in the lower leagues and CPU opponents doesn't commit a foul. CPU Defenders often seem sluggish and uninterested, letting my attackers into the penalty area without any resistance. This significantly reduces realism. After last update that's perhaps a little better, but not enough.
Defenders are still the biggest problem in EA FC games as it was in FIFA games. In reality, teams are carried by defenses, not offenses, but EA doesn't understand that.
