FC Player swtiching

Why does EA want to keep player switching using both L1 and Right analog stick? Does it make sense to make switching players so complicated? I have been playing fifa since a very long time now and the recent FCs literally suck. Out of ~350 games played in seasons, I have lost ~80 games and atleast half of them were because of faulty player switching. I have tried all possible settings, used 6 fingers and it still extremely bad. Can they fix this in the next iteration? I guess not, they are not able to fix the offside player pass mechanism yet. :/
