Fc26 post patch - worst gameplay after the patch

Because casual and average skilled gamers either don't have the time to have to learn a game day after day or just want to play football.

Myself is a prime example, I'm an older gamer than most on here I'd wager and after dealing with my now older kids, 1 grandchild and all the other normal life, day to day stuff I just want to sit down, chill and play football. That shouldn't also feel like going back to stressful, learning. Just want to chill and play football.

The real simple game mechanics to some might not be as simple to learn for others.

there is always a meta that everyone plays ^^ for about 3 years it was 4321 ^^ and iso 1v1 and now it is more about quick passing and to unlock defense (almost like in real life LOL) as you can easily unlock these by keeping the ball and pass backwards again i guess you just struggle to adapt to another way of playing and therefore you want your ''i win most games i'm happy playstyle'' back ^^

get another game then as they are supposed to be fun and if it is not for you then there is something else ;)

the skill required was to return the AI players running away from the ball to their right position and to guess right when you had to iso defend which nobody does in nowadays football as it is impossible to defend like this ^^ if you watch any football game nowadays you would notice that there are usually 2 defenders arround the ballplaying player and before the patch this was impossible as the help defender would be scared of the ball :( now you actually need to use football skills to defend by guiding oppenent players into traffick or the baseline to get the ball which is actually the way you defend in real life ^^ 

I guess then you gotta educate yourself about what the sport of football is :/ as this is the best gampelay i've seen for the last 3 years :/ players actually defend like a team so you can direct opposite players into teammates that for once don't run away :D Fullbacks actually join defense again after a lost tackle, so if the opponent wastes to much time the chance is gone :/ i guess this is your problem as you're used to the flashy basketball 1v1 iso play you've had the last 2 years so you waste time in attack ;) the only thing that you can complain about is that the ballcontrole of the midfielders is a bit to less which make the ball flipper arround from tackles :/ but as this is usually the case from good timed tackles in a row i can live with this ^^ 

This is also the reason i usually play every 2nd year as the uneven numbers usually prefere the iso style gameplay while the even numbers are usually a bit slower more realistic gameplay ;)

I get what you're saying. But I feel like this patch has been a bit of a knee-**bleep** reaction. Catering towards casual players is fine, but when it's at the expense of others who play more, it just doesn't make sense. EA could cater to casual players in a number of other ways that don't remove or dramatically lessen the skill gap.  Gauntlet 3 is a prime example of that, as it allowed skilled players to complete more difficult objectives and unlock Benzema faster, while also allowing more casual players to get him by simply playing the game.  

I know some people weren't particularly happy with that, but it shows how EA can balance aspects of UT to include both the casual and competitive player bases. I just don't understand why the same logic can't be applied to gameplay. I really struggle to see how readjusting R1 dribbling to accommodate the more skilled crowd while keeping the changes to defence (or even slightly reversing them) will lead to a max exodus of the casual player base. 

The fact of the matter is, the 'casual' player base will simply complain about everything; R1 dribbling is to OP, gets nerfed; everyone's parking the bus now and games are boring, attack ai and defending adjustments; games are like basketball matches now, defending gets boosted. I understand that developers can't always get it right, but it seems to me that far too often patches revolve around trying to make it easier for 'casual' and average-skilled players, instead of them just learning real simple game mechanics. 

I never said that 80-90% of the playerbase were struggling with defending, I was pointing out that casuals and average skilled players make up that number and that those are the gamers that EA need to keep on the game.

The patch is a success in real terms as the active player count is up across all platforms since the patch, because the majority actually want a football game with realistic scorelines and the absolute last thing EA want is those players going to career mode, they of course want them to remain on UT.

I think there is a general misunderstanding when folk are voicing their disproval of the update and labelling it down as people just not liking the changes to actual gameplay vs connection gameplay.

Before the update I was able to have real fluid and responsive gameplay...things worked. Post update however, its all gone Pete Tong.

I now have so much lag and unresponsive gameplay. Things such as; analogue player switching not working( have to go into setting every game and just make one adjustment to get it to work for that one game and its still really poor), slow animations and reactions of all players, delayed sounds such as whistles now occur several seconds after half time or full time, fixed ping no matter what game or zero ping in rush , game settings now reset including vsynch and window mode, opponents team feel like walls and resist any tackle where as mine fall over or loose possession with the slightest breeze and disconnects( albeit, thats resolved by changing the dns to a European country )

So for some of us , the game feels more broken post update with it not necessarily been doing to people not being able to fidget spin no more. This update will benefit some and for those that it doesnt, they shouldnt be subject to ridicule. All you have to do is take a gander at the forums to see that a lot of people in the community suffer with issues in the game and simply just want to play. We should be able to distinguish the difference between those being critical of the game mechanics and those that are facing actual issues. There are too many variables to assume we all experience the same exact gameplay

I seriously doubt “80-90%” of the player base was struggling with defending that much, but that’s besides the point. 

I can understand why players would be asking for defending and dribbling to be more balanced; that’s a valid ask. But, the issue is now EA has seriously over corrected, completely tanking dribbling and attacking in favour of massive boosts to defending (both manual and ai). 

Every rivals game I play now is just a park the bus simulator, with everyone playing with 2 holding DM’s and a full back line. Sure, this means that I (and other players) have to be much more precise in the attack, and I don’t necessarily have an issue with that. However, the fact that so many players now just sit back and wait for a counter makes playing rivals or champs so boring. 

I know some people say “this is football, you have to adapt to your opponents tactics”, sure, but when it’s 9/10 players it’s a bit ridiculous.

In the end, games just turn into back and fourth 1-0 or 2-1. If I wanted to play a “realistic” match, I’d go to manager career.  

The whole issue is the lack of balance between defending and attacking. It’s the over correction from EA, the complete nerf of dribbling in favour or massive boosts to jockeying, that has made this game, at times, unbearable.
