Forced Updates Broke My Career Mode. No Rollback.
I need to vent, because this is beyond frustrating and honestly indefencible for a so called AAA title.
I explicitly disabled auto updates in the EA App. They still happened. This isn’t user error. This is the app ignoring user consent and pushing updates regardless of settings.
Normally I’d move on, but the latest forced update broke my Career Mode. Hundreds of hours gone or unusable. And here’s the kicker: there is no supported way to roll back an update. No version pinning. No legacy branch. No offline preservation. Nothing.
So that’s it. Game over. Not because I stopped enjoying the game, but because EA decided I’m not allowed to control the software I paid for.
This is especially outrageous because Career Mode is single player, offline, non competitive and not tied to live balance or exploits
There is zero justification for forcing updates that can brick saves in a mode like this. Steam has rollback. GOG has rollback. Indie early access games have rollback. EA apparently doesn’t.
The result is a launcher that ignores disabled auto update settings, forces patches regardless, breaks core gameplay modes, provides no recovery path and takes zero accountability
What makes this worse is the contrast. This game is priced as a full AAA release, yet functions worse than many beta or early access titles on Steam. At least those usually let you choose your version or warn you before breaking changes.
I’m genuinely done. Not rage quitting. Just exhausted. I’ve already wasted too many hours of my life trying to fix problems I didn’t create, caused by updates I didn’t consent to.
If EA wants players to trust their platform, they need to learn a very basic concept: when a user says no, it means no.
Until then, this is access, not ownership, and it’s a joke.
