Formal complaint
I want to raise a formal complaint about the current state of defending and matchmaking in EA Sports FC 26.
The biggest issue is the overpowered CPU-assisted defending. It feels like the AI is doing most of the defensive work instead of the player. Defenders automatically make tackles, track runs, intercept passes, and position themselves with very little manual input. This removes the skill element from defending and rewards players who rely heavily on AI assistance rather than their own ability.
At the same time, when these players win possession, they can attack with unrealistic mechanics where attackers seem to spin around defenders effortlessly and score. It makes matches feel frustrating and unfair rather than competitive.
Another major concern is the skill-based matchmaking system, especially during special events. Instead of rewarding skill, it often feels like the matchmaking repeatedly pairs players against opponents who abuse the same AI-defending mechanics and broken tactics. Rather than encouraging different playstyles, the game pushes everyone toward using the same overpowered formations and defensive setups because they are simply the most effective.
This has made the game repetitive and unenjoyable. There is very little variety, as the majority of opponents use the same formations, tactics, and AI-assisted defending because they know it gives them the best chance of winning.
Unless these issues are addressed, this will be the last EA Sports FC title I purchase. I want a football game where player skill and manual defending are rewarded, not one where the AI plays the game for you. At its current state, the experience is neither enjoyable nor competitive, and it does not justify continuing to invest in the series.
I hope EA takes this feedback seriously and makes meaningful changes to reduce AI-assisted defending, improve the balance of manual defending, address overpowered formations and tactics, and create a fairer skill-based matchmaking experience.
