Kick-Offs Feel Worse Now
As a returning player, I’ve been very impressed with the feel of FC 26 compared to previous titles — particularly the fact that I seem to be getting fewer of those slow and sluggish games that used to haunt me in previous years. I still occasionally get a match that feels like the settings have been switched from “Competitive” to “Authentic,” but very rarely.
However, the change to kick-offs annoys me more than a tad — and I genuinely feel they’ve become worse than before. I’m sure there are official stats that may suggest otherwise — if not, I assume it would already have been reverted — but I’d urge the devs to look beyond those numbers, and consider how it affects players in different divisions, and more importantly, how it actually feels now.
I agree that change was warranted to reduce the number of kick-off goals. However, it seems like the only difference is that team depth is now temporarily set to a ridiculously low level. It’s still just as easy to wander through the horde of unresponsive zombies — only now, you get to do it even closer to your opponent’s goal. I cannot be the only one who feels the need to spam “Offside Trap” just to (somewhat) deal with it every time the opponent kicks off. Frankly, I’d rather concede the odd kick-off goal the old way until a better solution can be found.
