Manager career mode - players evolving

Overall I think manager career mode is good, but it makes no sense that all players develop so quickly and so much, even if you set their development to "slow" and don't hire an assistant coach. It ends up that after 2 seasons of playing, all players on all teams are between 85-90 rated. It is very unrealistic and not very fun if all players in the game are equal in rating.
There should be an option to stop players' development earlier or completely, to make the game mode more realistic. And maybe an option to choose which players you want to develop, such as promising talents.
