Clubs - Does your fit for role affect stats in game?

So i have used the Progressor CB build as a CAM because it is the only build with long ball pass in gold (Which in my opinion is essential for play-making). 

I  have noticed that although I have high dribbling stats in the 90's, my player still feels sluggish. Wondering if this is something that is actually put in the game or if I'm just imagining it.
