How to fix FUT
Id like to start this discussion on some nostalgia. Do you remember the fun you used to have on titles 9/10 years ago? Biabiany, ryo miyachi on the wings just for pure blistering pace?
The only thing truly needing to be looked at being the face card stats?
Packing a renato sanchez and selling them for 80k? What about a random brazilian silver that had 5/5* - Beautiful times
This is my road map/guide on how EA can get back to these times. I know people will disagree, however and think its foolish, however these suggestions are proven to have worked and are thought of as the golden year's of FUT, the vibes, fun and hype was, and still can be unmatched once more
1. Remove all promos for 40 days at the beginning of a new title. The only promo that is acceptable is a reworked O2W promo <based of team + indiv performance>
After 40 days, the 1st promo is scream focusing on fun players that are scary <Parrot creating nightmares for Hungary> or a promo similar to this
Futmas to return, some other minor promos to stay, talking 1 promo every 4 weeks lasting 1 week in total
TOTY to last 2 weeks, hard to pack, expensive to buy, but WILL BE BEST CARDS IN THE GAME UNTIL END OF TOTS
The approach is common sense. Promos are overdone and it is clear to see through how many players in each promo are discard, unwanted and unnecessary.
Providing less promos allows the content team to really think hard and long about the power curve, the direction the next promo will put the game, structure of the market etc. Currently what we have is slop, 90% of promos have 0 hype. The idea of promos originally was PERFECT! Few and far between, EVERYONE wants the players in the promos, prices are largely high due to demand on said players. Promos should absolutely not be something that is given to everybody weekly, this absolutely ruins the aura/brand of a promo. We are quickly seeing promos become TOTWs, obsolete, used in SBCs and for the most part ignored once the next promo arrives
This makes a highly unenjoyable game cycle, what is the point in constantly grinding when whatever i get this week will be outdone by next week's promos? A player that was elite 3 promos ago is ever so quickly unwanted, price crashes on the item. This is not how a good game functions. The player must feel rewarded, not a perpetual 'use new shiny item, discard shiny item when new shiny item arrives'
EA need to let the playerbase breathe, particularly at the start of the game. There is 0 need in a well structured game to constantly throw new things each week to get the player to login, see the new shiny thing and logoff again, there is 0 longevity in this.
2.The only packs allowed are the standard bronze silver gold up to 7.5k packs. 0 special packs, until black friday, allowing the market to be completely stable and free market. Or, a max of 25k packs <capped at 5 per week per player, 7.5k packs are unlimited but horrible value for money reducing everyone having 99% complete squads within 3 weeks of the game releasing>
100k packs early in the game is crazy. Take them out of objectives completely too.
Once Black friday arrives, the store shouldn't be unlimited 100k packs or such an amount that never sell out, they need to be completely random and fairly scarce so any packs run out quick. This will ensure prices for players are high, normal golds are more desirable, a new TOTW has players that people will then be able to use in their teams once more
3. Bring seasons mode back. A point system without time limit on rewards <minor coin/pack needed for just building the club this could be a 5k coin/ 7.5k pack alternating each time claimed>
Allows consistent grinding without flooding the market
Bring back tournament mode too, make it an actual tournament not just a mode with tournaments slapped onto it as an afterthought. 0 SBM allowed here, needs to be completely random. A reward for semi final, final and winning the whole tournament - whole tournament win should include both semi final and final rewards to make it fair. This should be pretty low rewards as repeatable unlimited amount of times. Tournaments/cups should have its own commentary, W/L, different formation and team requirements to prevent P2W abusing the credit card for high end players right off the rip
Upon reflection, a complete overhaul on all gamemodes is needed. There are a stupid amount of games available, all pretty much meaningless. We need quality, not quantity. Moments is dead, Silver stars is dead, squad battles is dead, rush is dead, draft is dead, rivals is dead in its current state, friendlies are dead.
What the playerbase needs is a simple, repeatable gamemode with rewards. All gamemodes should provide rewards without time restrictions also.
A complete revamp is needed here.
My suggestion would be this -
Rivals to be removed, seasons to be reintroduced. 10 games per season, certain amount of points for promotion and relegation, can also stay in same season level. Once 10 games have been hit, then the player deserves to get their coins immediately, or packs. This allows everyone to play as much and as little as they want, play more - rewarded more - better players. Need to go abroad for holiday and are 9 games in, but cant player for 10 days? Fine, you wont be punished you can pickup when youre back, play the final game and get the rewards.
These rewards should be scaled back from what we currently have available at the start of this year due to it being repeatable.
4. Stats reflected on the pitch, pace of 96 but caught by konate no more. Ozil 90 passing but no tiki? Doesn't matter, he will pass close to perfect with 90 passing stats. Same for dribbling, cherki should feel absolutely incredible and not clunky like joelinton
5.While we are here, totally remove "playstyles". It has failed dramatically. If not totally removed then the amount they impact the player needs drastically reduced to give little bonus' on how a player plays, stats should be the main deciding factor here.
6. Evos are to stay, however completely change
No huge overalls with horrible stats or reverse
Similar to futbin, real overall for the stats will be generated for every player, international rep not taken into consideration
Each evo will change players overall differently
No more 75 rated to 89 but the stats of a 80. No more silver players with 90 stats in all areas
Evos are only there to provide lower rated players that are not desired to become a little better over time. Instead of 2 games and huge boosts i want boosts for games played, average rating, goals scored, assists, clean sheets, last ditch tackles etc
Imagine a 70 rated CM, 10 goals scored for a certain increase in their shooting, successful passes increases passing, more ground covered increases stamina, more sprints increases pace etc. This creates a simple grind, easy to follow and could lead to having players use bronze players by the end of the season theyre rewarded with a player that suits their playstyle, from a team they love and actually get something in return for using players for a long long time
To prevent the abuse of evos, overall and stat limits per season are to be introduced, max of 4 players per season allowed, however, evos are not to be hidden behind timescales, if you want to play 700 games and get a bronze player to a 80 rated gold inside a month, you can do that, it will be all down to the player
7. 0 untradeable players outside of SBCs. 0 need for untradeable players when there is limited store packs available, the danger is not players getting weekend league and rivals rewards that ruin the market, it is the unlimited supply of promo packs that do this
8. SBCs
League grinds needed for special players at the end like we had before, repeatable for packs after first time claimed. Entering 1 team full of players for every team in the league. Allows for bronze and silver players to have a value year round. All packs to be tradeable
9. Bring back monthly rewards. These players will be guaranteed rating of totw and promo cards, however, the classic red for monthly rewards will return and these items stay untradeable to not oversaturate the special market as these are supposed to feel special and rare
10. Manual defending should be the meta. Complete destruction of AI defending in its current state. If a player clicks tackle and misses it, a massive penalty for that action should happen, no more circle spamming. Like to tackle from behind? No more this should be a card, the jockey mechanic, slide tackles and moving players to intercept the ball should be rewarded if manually controlled
Additionally, if defending, if a player is sprinting at you while you are standing still or moving forward, you should not be able to catch them unless you have a huge pace advantage, the slowest of players if dribbling past a defender will get seconds of space and time, if theyre quick, the defender is out of the game, punishing those who dive in constantly
11. Overhaul of strength, heading and dribbling. High stated dribblers should feel fluid, able to weave in and out such as prime neymar. Huge strength players like akinfenwa should be able to shoulder players off the ball and protect the ball against those with lesser strength
Heading is currently nonexistent In the game, where as in actual football heading is a pure artform, corners, free kicks, goal kicks and lobbing it up to the big man should be viable with certain players, thinking of crouch and defoe, the long throws into the box for headers at stoke etc
Any sort of E sports game should have a plethora of options in playstyles. Similarly to real world football, every single team is unique, every single player suits different managers. Want to play the bigman up top? Should be an option! See the opposition is full of big bulky immobile players, quick passing and moving should be able to break them down etc etc
Overall, there are 100s of things i need to change if I was in charge of FC27. Gameplay is top priority, followed by the games lifecycle <SBC, PROMO, REWARDS ETC>, followed by revamp of all modes
If this doesn't happen, and happen in a way that the community can see working, then myself, like 1000s of others have had enough of the same slop. I stopped playing this game before the end of November this year, its the earliest ive ever stopped, if huge changes arent in store, there is no point in me paying for this haramball simulator
