Lack of Game Situation awareness

In my play through so far teams maintain mych better defensive shape than last year making them harder to break down in higher difficulties. But from what I have noticed teams prioritise defensive shape over match state.

I would be winning 2-0 but the opposition team doesn't send more players down to press and win the ball. Depending on the teams it's just the striker or sometimes the front three. It makes it much easier to hold onto leads if i just hold the ball and pass it between my keeper and one of my defender.
