Controller ID clash when disconnecting

I am playing on PC. I have a controller that I connect to the PC. However, if I leave my games on pause to do something and the controller turns off, the game doesn't let me continue my games anymore because, when I reconnect the controller, it tells me that it's not the same that it started the game and I cannot play (e.g. in Ultimate Team). 

This is quite annoying because I need to restart the game, and it feels like a bug. Why would the game even care that it's the same controller connected? Even if there is a reason to care, please make sure that it recognizes when it's actually the same controller that just powered off.
