Controller simply will not work

Hi everyone,

My controller just will not work in game for whatever reason. It works in the menus, except for the triggers somehow, but as soon as I get into any in game scenario whether it be a match or training I get absolutely 0 input from my controller.

So far I have tried:
steam input disable/enable
locking fps/refresh to 60
disconnecting/disabling any other potential input devices that could cause conflict
running the game as admin
disconnect and reconnect controller
restart steam
restart pc
tested on other games (PGA Tour 2K25 and Battlefield 6, both launched through steam like EA FC 26 is)

Works on other games flawlessly and has for years. This is my first EA FC game since Fifa 21 so I expected some hiccups but this is rough

Any suggestions that I haven't yet tried or is it looking like I should refund and move on with my life?
