Intermittent 6–8% packet loss

Hello EA Support,

I am experiencing severe, intermittent packet loss in EA SPORTS FC 26 Champions matches

on PS5. I am requesting that this case be escalated to the FC Network/Infrastructure team

because extensive simultaneous testing indicates the problem is specific to certain EA

match servers or network paths.

#### Connection details

- Platform: PlayStation 5

- Connection: Wired Ethernet

- PS5 NAT type: Type 2

- ISP: KUB Fiber, AS33566

- Location: Knoxville, Tennessee, USA

- Typical FC latency: 17–18 ms

- Other games and Internet services: Working normally

- Previous history: I played FC 26 on this same KUB connection for approximately nine

months without this issue

#### EA Connection Quality results

The problem varies dramatically between consecutive matches even though my connection,

console, game mode, ping, and jitter remain effectively unchanged.

Examples from July 26, 2026:

- 5:32 p.m. — Champions

- Ping: 18.25 ms

- Jitter: 0.08 ms

- Packet loss: 7.72%

- Score: 59/100

- 5:14 p.m. — Champions

- Ping: 17.56 ms

- Jitter: 0.10 ms

- Packet loss: 0.01%

- Score: 97/100

- 4:17 p.m. — Champions

- Ping: 18.01 ms

- Jitter: 0.08 ms

- Packet loss: 5.99%

- 2:36 a.m. — Champions

- Ping: 18.20 ms

- Jitter: 0.07 ms

- Packet loss: 5.85%

- 12:07 a.m. — Champions

- Ping: 18.19 ms

- Jitter: 0.14 ms

- Packet loss: 6.60%

- 12:01 a.m. — Champions

- Ping: 18.25 ms

- Jitter: 0.10 ms

- Packet loss: 0.00%

There was also a July 25 Ultimate Team Live Game Modes match with 18.04 ms ping, 0.06 ms

jitter, and 0.00% loss.

The stable ping and extremely low jitter are important: the affected matches suddenly

show 6–8% packet loss without the increased latency or jitter normally associated with

local congestion or bufferbloat.

#### Testing performed

I ran continuous monitoring from another wired computer during both the good Champions

match ending at 5:14 p.m. and the affected match ending at 5:32 p.m.

During the 7.72%-loss match:

- PS5 Ethernet path: 5,193/5,193 replies — 0.000% loss

- ASUS router: 5,209/5,209 replies — 0.000% loss

- First KUB ISP hop: 5,376/5,376 replies — 0.000% loss

- External Cloudflare control: 5,379/5,379 replies — 0.000% loss

- Ethernet interface errors: 0

Additional tests:

- 900 direct PS5 LAN probes: 0% loss

- 200 router probes: 0% loss

- 200 rapid Internet probes to Cloudflare: 0% loss

- Tests to Google: 0% end-to-end loss

- No evidence of double NAT or CGNAT

- PS5 remains NAT Type 2

Therefore, the PS5 Ethernet link, home router, KUB access link, and general Internet

connection remained healthy while EA measured 7.72% gameplay packet loss.

#### Requested investigation

Please use my EA account’s match telemetry and the timestamps above to compare the good

and bad consecutive matches and identify:

1. The FC data center, destination IP, and server instance used for each match.

2. Whether the bad matches were assigned to a particular server, subnet, edge node, or

network path.

3. Server-side inbound and outbound UDP packet counters for these matches.

4. Packet drops at the EA hosting provider, edge network, DDoS protection/policer, or

peering/transit path involving KUB/AS33566.

5. Whether an ECMP route or particular server pool explains why one match has 0% loss and

the next has 7.72% at essentially identical latency.

6. Whether this is related to recent FC updates or server maintenance.

Please do not close this with generic Wi-Fi, DNS, router-restart, or port-forwarding

instructions. The PS5 is wired, NAT Type 2, and simultaneous testing captured zero local,

router, ISP-access, or general Internet packet loss during an affected match.

Please escalate this to the EA SPORTS FC networking/NOC team and provide a case number or

escalation reference. I can supply screenshots of the EA Connection Quality Report and

additional timed tests if needed.

Thank you.

I first experienced this problem on July 24, 2026 at approximately 3:28 p.m. EDT (19:28 UTC). Before that match, I had played FC 26 on this exact PS5, Ethernet network, router, and KUB Fiber service for approximately nine months without this packet-loss problem. EA performed FC 26 maintenance from 2:00–3:00 a.m. EDT that same day, approximately 12½ hours before my first affected match. I am not claiming the maintenance caused the issue, but please compare any North American game-server, load-balancer, routing, peering, UDP filtering, or server-pool changes deployed during or after that maintenance against the server used for my 3:28 p.m. match.
