Not running or taking ball!

I was played a player career game and my player just suddenly stopped running at all. I've checked the setting numerous times and it should work like I'm trying to get it to but it's not so I deleted and reinstalled the game and now my players won't even take the ball from a pass. They just walk past it and they STILL aren't making an effort to run.
