[PC] Progressive Input Lag in All Online Modes Except Rush
THE ISSUE
Input lag starts a few minutes into any full match and grows until unplayable. Rush works perfectly. The pass power bar registers input instantly, but the action happens in game 5–15 seconds later depending on FPS cap. Higher FPS = worse delay.
During online full matches (Ultimate Team, etc.), the input response degrades very quickly:
- Only the first ~5 seconds of the match feel responsive.
- After that, input lag starts and progressively gets worse as the match goes on.
- By the later stages, there's a significant delay between pressing a button and the action happening on screen.
What was tried until now:
- Clean reinstall, file verify,
- DX11 and DX12 (launch args) Launch options: -dx11/12 -disablepagefilecheck -high
- All FPS caps (30/60/144/uncapped)
- NVIDIA: Low Latency Ultra, Max Performance, V-Sync off
- Disabled all overlays (EA, Discord, Xbox, ShadowPlay)
- DNS flush, Winsock reset, TCP reset
- Ultimate Performance power plan
- True fullscreen, fcsetup.ini reset
- Multiple other useless fixes turning on and off different options via in game settings.
This is not a hardware, driver, graphics API, or network issue. Every possible client-side fix has been exhausted with no improvement.
The critical clue is that Rush works perfectly while all session-based modes (Clubs, Rivals, etc.) do not. Rush uses a lighter netcode architecture, while full-match modes maintain a persistent cumulative game state. The growing delay strongly suggests the game engine is struggling to keep up with cumulative session state sync meaning the longer the match, the further the client falls behind.
This has been reported in dozens of threads since launch with zero confirmed community fixes and no official EA response addressing the root cause.
EA, can we please have an official acknowledgment of this and a timeline for fixing?
