Squad battles difficulty

This has been an ongoing problem since the start of last year's game.

Some days I play squad battles and it plays smoothly and fun and quick and then other days I can barely score and barely defend.

Against the same rated teams on the same difficulties, depending on the day, I can score either 7+ goals a game, or barely get 1 single goal. 

When this happens, the game feels slow and heavy. Button responsiveness is noticeably worse and it's almost impossible to keep the ball let alone break down the defense and score.

It feels and plays as if I'm playing from a second behind the CPU. My attackers make constant mistimed and offside runs and are unable to find any space.

Player switching to try to defend is purely predictive. All you can do is guess because if you were to react to the CPU, it would be too late.

This is incredibly frustrating. Can anyone help?
