I’ve now experienced two mid-match crashes—one in the Code Neon event and one in the new UCL Road to the Finals event. These occurred within the space of 30 minutes after the app update with the UCL event and definitely wasn’t a result of my internet connection (which remained uninterrupted and has never been an issue in the past). Anyone else experiencing issues? [Note: I run the app on an iPad with the latest iOS update.]
Four crashes in the last 30 mins—three times in a row while trying to complete the final round of the weekend challenge, and then once in Manager Mode. I cleared my cache just a few hours ago (even though it seems to make little difference), but I cleared it yet again (because what else can I do?) after the weekend challenge kept crashing the app. I then was able to complete one match in Manager Mode before the second Manager Mode match crashed it again. As a result of that forfeit I was relegated from the league I was in, so I’m getting more than a little fed up at this point. I’ve got plenty of storage space on my device and I’m running nothing else except FC Mobile when all this is happening.
Same thing happening with me. Multiple app crashes over the past week. Deleted app and reinstalled. Still getting crashes when playing any type of match. Also playing on 9th generation iPad, using latest iOS. This is getting very frustrating. Playing events, winning matches to advance in the events, and then app crashes. Glad it’s not just happening to me, and clearly shows a pattern of an issue somewhere in the game. Hope EA can sort this issue out, as ruining experience of the game
So, I went 24 hours with no problem and then entered a league tournament match and the app just got stuck. I’m including a screenshot. Since it’s a VSA-style match the action usually just starts right away, but in this case my striker has the ball at his feet, but won’t move or kick the ball. The “kickoff” button is weirdly present (which is never usually there) and the players are all subtly “bobbing” in place (like they’re breathing), so it’s not as though the screen is frozen, but they are totally unresponsive to any inputs. Also, there is no timer, so the game appeared as though it would just remain like this I definitely. I waited a couple of minutes just to see if the 1:30 timer might still be running in the background, but ultimately had to force quit the app. And, as usual, I got stuck with a forfeit\loss.
EA, when are you guys going to accept that there is a deeper problem going on here? The app is not performing the way it’s supposed to on iPads (at least 9th generation ones anyway) and we’ve been reporting it for weeks. I know you say you haven’t been able to replicate the results yourselves, but then where does that leave us. We, your customers, keep having problems. Are you making any further attempt to resolve them, or are you just done with us?
Two more crashes. Both of these were in Premier League Club Challenge matches where the app closed mere seconds into the game. So, now I’ve been knocked out of that competition for the day through no fault of my own. I even cleared my cache in between the first and second match. It obviously made no difference. 😞😡
EA_Pulsar With all due respect, I’ve done everything on your list (and so have others posting here), yet I’m still experiencing daily crashes. Just moments ago I forfeited another Songkran match because the app suddenly closed. This match wasn’t even against another player (which is where I usually encounter the most problems).
You say that EA has looked at iPads, but they obviously haven’t investigated thoroughly enough because we keep having the same problems. Once again, my device has nearly 20 GB of free storage, the latest iOS version and I operate on a stable network. These crashes are never preceded by even the slightest glitch in my connection, the app just suddenly closes. It doesn’t matter whether I’ve cleared my cache that day (or even an hour prior). They still occur on a nearly daily basis.
If EA isn’t going to lift a finger to try and get to the bottom of this, then could you at least look at my user record, confirm that I’ve now lost three Songkran matches due to these crashes and at least reimburse me for the three tickets I’ve lost to date? It’s a small ask considering the amount of time and frustration this issue has caused (and continues to cause). At least in most other aspects of the game I only lose a few fans or cups and can replay the match, but the Songkran crashes are rapidly costing me any chance of acquiring a top prize and that just isn’t fair (or fun).
I’m happy to report that it’s been several days now since I experienced the app crashing [fingers crossed that I didn’t just jinx it]. I hope the same is true for other iPad users and, if it is, I’d urge those folks to post. Whether it was something deliberate or purely by luck, one of the mini updates that recently pushed out seems to have stabilized the app for me (again fingers crossed) because nothing about my device or playing habits has changed. In fact, I haven’t even cleared my cache or rebooted my device in 4-5 days. So, something on the EA side of this equation changed and I would urge EA to please not upset the apple cart the next time they push out a new event and destabilize the app again for iPad users.
