[Feedback thread] TOTY event discussion—share your thoughts.

To be fair EA_Pulsar​ has about the worst job I can imagine as “the face” of this mess. It’s not reasonable to expect someone in that position to speak out against the company they represent. It IS, however, reasonable to expect EA to put up or shut up. In other words, stop asking us for feedback if they aren’t ever going to do anything with it.

I left this franchise years ago in bitter frustration and only came back about 12 months ago and even in that limited amount of time I’ve observed a clear pattern. EA pays lip service to “listening” to us, but it’s never a two-way conversation (wherein we exchange ideas back and forth) and they inevitably go ahead and do whatever they want — meaning they pursue the most self-serving path wherein they make no tangible improvements to the game but seek to extract more revenue in increasingly coercive ways.

If you ask me, the decision-makers at EA ought to have to come in here and “face the music” and stop sending folks like EA_Pulsar​ out to face this virtual firing squad. There ought to be accountability for all of the lousy decisions the leaders of this franchise have made (and for the incredibly poor quality control). Football is only the most popular sport in the world and they've managed to systematically undermine (if not outright destroy) the truckload of good will any football franchise is going to enjoy simply because we’re all so passionate about the sport. Folks are rightfully fed up and we’re way past the point where “we’re listening to you” is going to cut it anymore. Either improve the game mechanics or stop this “we want your feedback” charade once and for all! We’re not stupid and we refuse to be EA’s dupes. We know when we’re getting less for more (as is clearly the case with TOTY) and we’re all righteously furious at the contempt this event shows for the community.

So, yeah, I refuse to target EA_Pulsar​ personally over any of this, but someone at EA ought to be out of a job over the mismanagement of FCM and the company deserves every bit of the criticism they’re receiving on this thread right now. If they had any respect for us (not to mention EA_Pulsar​) the real decision-makers would come in here and face the music themselves, but somehow I think we all know they don’t have the guts.

You guys messed up this game and this event, bring back packs so we can have variety. And bring back shards. Shards and draft can co-exist. Please also add more rank up points or a way to transfer to the next player that is cheap.

Hi .. what DO you think honestly ? In the bottom of your soul you know it's the worst event ever. Poor and greedy . C'mon, in "TOTY MIDFIELDER" the "Selected Steps" are available for 3 times only during the whole week ? Are you kidding ? When it comes to "Any Steps" you put all your efforts so we can not get a golden tile, but always a blue tile cisting 1000 coins (players cost billions and you are still giving 1000 coins).

Be honest and make the "Selected Steps" 3 times daily or improve the chances to get a golden tile by 50%.

If you were a regular player you wouldn't be happy at all with the event.

I really want to express my disappointment with the current Fc Mobile Toty event. After investing lot of time into the event I have not received a single 116 or 117 OVR player. The grind is extremely demanding yet the rewards feel unrewarding & poorly balanced. Even after completing many draws the chances of pulling top tier players are unrealistically low. The token system also makes things worse. Exchanging lower OVR players barely gives enough tokens to reach meaningful rewards?! making it practically impossible for free to play or lowspend players to progress! The effort required does not match the outcome. Toty is supposed to be one of the most exciting events of the year but instead it feels frustrating and discouraging. Please reconsider the reward structure and drop rates because right now it feels like the community's time and effort are not being respected!

Genuinely unsure whether this game has just become a scam.

I honestly hope this is the beginning of the end for the game as EA deserve nothing better.

New issue: Matchmaking for the midfielder TOTY token is “off.” I have a 119 OVR squad and am currently +5 FC Champions in VSA. However, I’ve played three TOTY VSA matches and they’ve all been terribly unfair. I’ve experienced ridiculously high ping +90ms in the one match that should have been winnable (where my opponent had an equivalent squad), but the play was so sluggish that I could barely convert half my chances. And in my other two matches I was paired with opponents who had substantially better squads where I never really stood a chance.

So what’s up with the matchmaking and why does it seem substantially different than regular VSA?

How much more do you need to hear, EA? The jury is in. The community has spoken and you don’t need to keep this thread pinned for another three weeks because the message isn’t going to change… You guys blew it. The community is livid about the TOTY event and you need to take action NOW (mid-event) or you’re going to lose more and more of us — permanently. 

This is a simple litmus test as to whether you hold your user community in such contempt that you will go on treating us as “marks” for the remainder of a month-long event, or whether you will treat us as valued customers. You obviously brought forward this event redesign in a desperate attempt to generate revenue (by any means necessary). We didn’t ask for this and we certainly don’t like it. This was a completely self-serving move and, if you let it stand unchanged, you are effectively doubling down on the message you (perhaps unintentionally) sent when you launched the event — that you don’t give a rip about the F2P community (which is to say, most FCM users!). Every day this event continues unaltered you are telling F2Pers “you mean nothing to us if you don’t start spending.” 

The simplest near-term fix is to lower the gem price of draft vouchers in the store. This would make TOTY slightly less bad (because we’d still have massive uncertainty with regard to winning top players that might actually meet a need in our squad). However, the long-term solution needs to be a commitment to bring back the shard system. Put simply, you’ve damaged your relationship with a hell of a lot of us and you need to make amends. If the problem you’re trying to solve is a revenue issue then engage with the community on the topic. AsVelvetHammer24​ notes (and as I, and others, have repeatedly said), folks will pay for the game if you create real value by addressing long-standing points of pain regarding game mechanics so that matches are fun and players perform consistently. Absent this, you can continue to run the game like a casino and chase more and more users from the game as you chase diminishing revenues. It’s your call.

You’ve taken one of the two most anticipated events of the year (TOTY and TOTS) and quite literally made it the worst event since I started playing the original FIFA Mobile when it first came out.

This new event was a slap in the face to your long time players.  There is no purpose in playing the majority of the tasks as the rewards are pointless.  The market was already bad with the price controls and limited card stock, but this event has only made it worse.  

I understand the need for EA to generate revenue off of the mobile game now despite the initial purpose of it was likely as a loss-leader to drive players to the console version.  However, this can also be done via a combination of ads, an annual or one-time game fee, and buyable packs.  But, that will only be accepted if the game is worth playing.  TOTY was a massive step farther down the misguided path that EA has been on with this game for the past few years.

Horrible TOTY event. Players who joined recently are exploiting the system by creating and deleting free-to-play accounts and opening drafts repeatedly until they get all 117 rated players. As a result, they end up with better teams than players who have been grinding the game consistently. The event design rewards exploitation over effort. EA should take inspiration from eFootball to make gameplay more realistic and skill based rather than luck based. It is time to grow up and respect the loyal player base.
