Is EA still working on this? It’s still happening…
Either stop making such lopsided/unfair matches, or at least give us equally lopsided matches where the opponent is -30/-40 ranks below us!

The issue is, that once you get that far up in champs there is a very limited user pool for you to match against … so, you either match someone quickly because they meet the matching criteria (similar rank, similar region, requested a match), otherwise it starts to spread the net wider.
once you hit champs you can no longer drop below or match with people below champs (some might disagree, but I personally think the single best adjustment to rivals that has ever been introduced), so when the bet is cast there is generally far more above scope than there is below.
its a hard one, and I have never got further than about champs step 5 so can’t really relate, but I imagine it would be frustrating …

I understand it’s a limited user pool and I have said repeatedly that I’d be happy to wait a little longer for a fair match. I’m sure others would agree. But what EA seems to be doing is using us lower-ranked players as “cannon fodder” for the “whales” in the higher ranks of FC Champions and that just feels abusive (not to mention totally unnecessary).
I’m fine being matched against someone +20 ranks. That seems like a reasonable compromise in order to maintain a broad enough pool of potential matches. But matching players separated by 30, 40, or more ranks is a bridge too far — it’s a guaranteed L for the lower ranked user and that’s just no fun.
And isn’t this supposed to be fun? (Not to mention fair?) Fun and fairness should be core values at the heart of every gaming experience and I have yet to hear anyone from EA explain how the current matchmaking fits these criteria for the folks in FC Champions 0-19 ranks. With all due respect mendozzamagic, are you really prepared to argue that the current number of uncompetitive matches is fun and fair? Wouldn’t you rather face someone on your own level instead waste your time playing a match you have no realistic chance of winning?

Oh i absolutely get it, but where do you draw the line between providing a match and not providing one ... are you ok with maybe not being able to match anyone for hours, maybe days depending on your time zone, once you hit champs 10?
I don't have the answers, and i am not suggesting that the current situation is perfect (or even defensible), but the reality is that with so many players stopping once they hit champs level, how do you solve the fact that there are only the really active players trying to max out there rankings that are available to play?Do you start facing players who are below the champs hard floor and denying them the chance to reach that level?
It's a hard one, and the team have been looking at options to make the experience less **bleep**, but it comes down to a case of where do you draw the line!
