The red exclamation ❗️ mark appears if you are deemed to have held on to the ball for too long (like back passing and general time wasting). If it happens too much longer your players will pass or kick the ball away.
This was introduced in s4 to curtail backpassing. At the time, folks who scored an early goal, would just park the bus.

Yes thank you this helped me alot it makes sense, but still doesn't work I've had players pass it around when they're winning by one goal you can just move into the opponents half then keep back passing it.
I've also had my players kick the ball away when im passing the ball forwards going on an attack... it seems a bit stupid to me the game gets to pick and chose who has the ball, if you can't tackle the other player that's your own fault imo.
It's annoying when players pass it around the back but you need to learn how to cut out passing lanes and use your 2nd man press effectively.
It's not my fault little kids sprint straight at you with second man press always on lol, so the game decides you've had too much of the ball and the other player should have it 🤣 imagine that's how real football was played lmfao, the referee calls a free kick for the other team because you've had too much of the ball lmao.

@559fe85ea9a0d6f3 There is a reason EA put this feature in the game. A few seasons back people were abusing the game and just scoring a goal and then the rest of the game just passing in their backfield. So for the majority of the H2H game people never touched the ball and there was nothing they could do to stop it.
There is little to no skill involved in doing this and it sucks all the fun out of playing the game for your opponent.
Reading some of your other posts I can see you are a new player and struggle to stop people from cross spamming on you. I have you some tips to help you out. Have you tried using any of them? It seems you are scared that if you allow your opponent to have the ball he’ll just run down the wing and cross in a ball a score. So you have decided to just pass the ball in your backfield so your opponent has no chance do anything.
