@mendozzamagic well that's the rub. Current event design encompasses the worst elements of old mobile and console approaches. The old Fifa Mobile approach was to play variously challenging side matches and skill games for currencies to redeem rewards that included top end items if you grinded the whole event (ok, prime icons were always out of reach). If you were p2p you accelerated your progress and were able to get more high end rewards. The console approach is to grind for packs in pvp modes. Yes, its pack luck based, but it was balanced by offering sbc and objectives based rewards.
The current FC Mobile approach uses very basic, autoplayable ai content for currency to gamble on packs. As the content is too easy, it's not engaging, just a means to an end. The packs offer very low probablilties to get anything but low to middling rewards. This cannot be changed by spending money (it just adds to the number of packs you can open). The team has added some exchanges recently for mid tier players, so that's a start. What's missing is a way to achieve top end rewards through some form of gameplay like champs on console.
As it stands, events lack engagement unless you really like gambling. Rivals is somewhat pointless as the rewards are seriously underwhelming. Same for challenge mode, it's either not challenging or offers minimal rewards for the effort. Let's not even start with league vs league.
As for event design one could take this to its logical conclusion and go all out console. Play pvp for packs and dispose of the lame ai content altogether. Would save the players time autoplaying boring content and EA could rationalize on the event design team. This would also provide rivals some much needed incentives. Alternatively, one could re-introduce some more complex event designs, but that's likely too much to ask for.
