This is a bug that's been driving me crazy. When I'm using a linebacker and the ball is thrown to a receiver being covered by one of my corners and I recognize the ball is being thrown and I press circle to lock on to the closest defender which is the corner.. I get locked onto the safety coming down for support. This has so annoying because these are potential interceptions that are either caught for first downs or 50/50 breakups. See attachment for reference.
As you can see, I'm not moving the usered linebacker, so directional switching isn't the problem. That's what I thought it was initially, but if I rapidly click the circle, it would lock me onto the correct defender. You might have to replay the 2nd video a few times to see it. This really needs to be rectified PLEASE!!!!🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

Ch355logic These can be super frustrating when you're trying to switch to the corner and it pulls you to the wrong guy.
A couple of things that I found for you that have helped me clean it up:
- Instead of just tapping Circle, try flicking the right stick toward the DB you want to control as the ball is in the air. It gives you a lot more control over who you switch to, especially in those split-second moments.
- Also, make sure Defensive Ball Hawk and Defensive Switch Assist are both turned ON in your settings. That helps with smoother transitions and better positioning when you switch.
- Once you’re on the DB, use L2 to strafe and Triangle to play the ball if you’re in a good position. If you’re trailing a bit, X to play the receiver can save you from getting burned.
- In terms of timing, as soon as you read the throw, flick the stick toward the corner, hold L2 to settle your movement, and go for the ball.
I also ran a few reps in Practice Mode to get the feel down, as it made a big difference since I hadn't played in a while.
Hope that helps. The default switching can definitely mess you up sometimes. I have it noted down to pass along in case anyone else runs into this issue.

Switch stick is something I'm still trying to get into the habit of using myself. My problem with it though, comes when I'm Usering DL and trying to use a pass rush move and it switches me. I wish we could possibly get L2/LT involved with that switch transition so it's not switching on accident.

I appreciate the speedy response and feedback. I verified my settings and tried using the switch stick while the ball was in the air and the inaccuracies continued as you can see in the attached videos.
The first video (if they're in the correct order) shows me using the R stick to switch stick up and I get the hit stick animation
.The second video is me pressing up on the dpad to switch stick and it goes to the FS then to the SS
Third video shows me pressing down on the Dpad (because switch sticking while the ball in the doesn't respond or gives me "in pursuit" animation) and it locks on the a player on the side of the field.
And in the last two videos it's me doing a pass rush animation when using the switch stick to the left and another example of going up on the R stick and getting the hit stick animation.
Switch stick seems to be fine before the ball is thrown but once it's in the air I've trusted my reflexes on pressing circle to get me to the correct defender and Triangle to make a play on the ball. My reflexes are good but it's impossible to know when I need to double press circle in a split seconds time while playing the ball in the air. Once again I appreciate you hearing me out and hope my videos are helpful.

Ch355logic Thanks for taking the time to follow up, and a big shoutout for including the video clips. It is so much easier sometimes to see what you see rather than just text.
Totally hear you on the Switch Stick issue once the ball is in the air. From what you described (and showed), it sounds like the controls are either overlapping with other animations or just not triggering the way they should in high-pressure moments. That “hit stick animation” when switching up on the R stick mid-air definitely shouldn’t be happening there.
Also appreciate the point you made about reflexes vs. control mapping—it’s a fair one. You shouldn’t have to second-guess whether a single or double tap is required during a fast break on the ball. The responsiveness should just be there when it matters.
I’m passing this along directly to the gameplay team with your notes and videos. The more we can narrow down where the issues is, the better we can improve the game for players.
Appreciate your patience and the honest feedback.
