Black textures and artefacts on faces

Hello,

I have graphics issues on Mass Effect 2. The mission Horizon is the worst, it's unplayable. Textures are black around my Sheppard like a halo, and there are triangles-shaped artefacts on the face of some characters. I've joined some pictures for example.

I first have downloaded the game from Origin, and have reinstalled it many times.

Then it was on sale on Steam, but same issues after installation and re-installation. I thought that it was because of Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable, desinstall and reinstall it doesn't change anything.

Thanks for your answers ! 🙂

    I see your laptop has both onboard graphics (Intel HD 4000) and a dedicated graphics chipset (AMD Radeon HD 7670M). The AMD Radeon is the better of the two. I suspect that the game doesn't automatically switch on the AMD Radeon. This could happen, for instance, if you're running your laptop on battery power or if the laptop is otherwise configured to use little power.

    If you were running on battery power before and plugging in the adapter fixes the issue, then you're done. Otherwise, keep reading.

    The graphics drivers for your AMD Radeon are outdated (from 2012). The latest drivers version for your GPU is a beta driver from 2016, which you can download here: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop/legacy?product=legacy3&os=Windows%207%20-%2064

    I recommend downloading and installing Crimson Edition 16.2.1 Beta.

    Once that's all done, I recommend checking out the following page which explains how to make sure the game runs in high performance mode: https://community.amd.com/docs/DOC-1581

    Hello !

    Thanks for the links. I already use the different powers settings, and I always play with adapter plugged in and high performance, but, yes, I haven't check the driver updates. I'm happy to be able to configure my graphic chipset with this new driver.

    Unfortunately, it doesn't change anything in Mass Effect 2...

    @ComplexeH

    Do you use any mods?

    Make sure Origin is closed

    Go to: "Documents\Bioware\Mass Effect 2\BIOGame\Config".

    Rename the "GamerSettings.ini" to "old_GamerSettings.ini" > Start Origin > Test the game.
