Bug in "Citadel: Scan the Keepers"

I know it's difficult - we've all done it over the years but in Mass Effect 1 (Legendary Edition) you've missed a Keeper in the "Citadel: Scan the Keepers" quest.

The total is 20 when it's supposed to be 21.

It appears to be a bug that was introduced.

  • Yes, it seems they removed the keeper by the Normady from the list of ones required to complete the quest.

Or does it just complete when you scan any 20 keepers? That was the one left when I finished.

It was the one that was left for me as well but I think its just any keeper. The total for the entire quest is 20 (when you actually check the quest log) - when it's supposed to be 21.

  • The bug is in the original PC version as well (I played it a few months ago). 21 keepers but only 20 scans required.

  • @Vendrium I see the 20, but when I try to scan the keeper next to the Aveena person (who always says don't disturb the keepers) it never counts. I did the one by the ship. So now I'm not sure how to get the last one.
  • I always had to find all of the 21 Keepers in the OT ME1 on PC. Played it around 11 times.

However this time with LE, I was already at 18/20 before entering C-CEC for the first time, so the keeper next to Avina did count in my game. All of the 3 remaining Keepers could be potentially interacted with, but after scanning 2 of them the assignment finished as it should.

Not sure if this is why, but in the original game, the Keeper in the Volus/Elcor embassy would sometime disappear.  So you'd be stuck on 20/21 for a while and have to check back now and then until it reappeared, which it eventually did lol.

Strange that they took out the Keeper by the Normandy, that was always the last one I got and there was never a issue with it. Trouble is, as it was always the last for me, I can't confirm if you can still scan it if you go there while you still need Keepers.

  • It's probably made that way because you can't scan Keeper near Normandy until you get access to the dock. And with that change it's possible to complete quest before you'll get an access to Normandy. I was surprised by this solution as well but thought it's kinda of QoL change.
