First Impressions after 2 hours with the game...

But BioWare with Frostbite engine  i think dont know how to work...Battlelfield i think graphics is OK.

One more thing: CD Project Red (witcher 3 developer who use REDengine 3) start working on REDengine 4 asssuming to Cyberpunk 2077 !!!

Completely agree, I feel like closing my eyes and just listening is a better way to take on some conversations. I personally prefer a solid story/character interaction and development over pretty graphics and animation. But like you said after playing each ME multiple times its a step back in terms of conversation polish.

You also mentioned the combat which I'm finding difficult to adjust to as well, the sticky cover is hard at the best of times to figure out if it will actually protect me or not. Along with the complete lack of control over squad mates makes setting up combo's a solo task.

Indeed, I would like to 2nd this.  Also a long time fan of the series, who isn't feeling angry, just major disappointed.  Perhaps if it was not released as part of the ME franchise a long time fan wouldn't have such expectation.  I've read that there are no plans to remaster the original three; however, perhaps that may be a better alternative.

There are some truly amazing qualities of the game, but for older fans who view the company and games as quality story driven products, there is going to be some expectation of polish.  Rather unfortunately it feels like watching a show where the audio is out of sync with the video, and nobody can get through that disconnect without constantly trying to convince themselves to do so.  Maybe the ME:A storyline is fantastic, I couldn't say, too busy convincing myself to ignore the disconnects and animation oddities.

In my opinion, you need five or six plus hours to actually start to like the game.  Before that, I feel that I was stuck in wanting to like the game but unsure if I was going to.  The game does not lack polish.  It lacks proper leadership in the making of it.  The planet environments are great, characters from 2005.  What has to be first time writers and inept people doing the hiring of the voice actors.  Can you say 70% of the lines phoned in?  I have begun to sort of enjoy the game and I think the game is a solid 7, but that's as good as any game is that has the EA logo attached to it.  I blame nothing on bioware.  I blame it all on EA.  Just look what they do to everything they snatch up.  It all becomes mediocre.  This game is six months from being finished, and unfortunately, because of lack of real leadership at EA, it will now never see it's true potential.

Agreed with so much of the above. I was hooked on the story by about 5-6 hours in, but the execution is just disappointing.

It feels like a game that's ready for closed beta, not launch.

I can't lay all the blame squarely on the shoulders of EA (but I'll give them at least 80% of it). We know EA is behind the shift to Frostbite and all the nonsense that's come with that. And I have very little problem believing that BioWare might well have asked to push back the launch to have more dev time but was given a big, fat NO from EA higher ups.

But the bad writing? And the bad VA work? That I lay at BioWare's feet. They've always managed to put together well written and voice acted dialogue, even when they were an indie. IMO, there's no excuse for the quality of either of those things in ME:A.

i have 4 hours game play and so far i love it the game i dont know if is the emotion of a new mass effect after 5 years but yes the lifeless expressions on faces and character creation menu are horrible i say is even worts than mass effect 1, but hey nothing that a helmet wont solve at least for the character and the party. at least until they patch it 

Well I mostly agree with everyone here, not being angry but disappointed.

Pre release reviews helped me getting ready to get my face tired of seeing those poor animations, so I must say I do enjoy the game. I mainly focus on subtitles to avoid looking at hideous faces with horriffying creepy doll eyes during cutscenes. sometimes, characters don't even look at their locutor, and starts looking at you the player which is terriffying. However, as weird as it may seem, there are many human characters who have normal animations (not the Ryders unfortunately), which is totally surprising and disappointing. Probably because EA deals with lots of subcontractors? I don't know.

It's a shame because after 5 hours of gameplay on my hands, everything else feels right and great: the landscapes, the ambient sounds and music, the combat and class things, the whole Andromeda Initiative and even the writing. It's true, yes, there are some horribly cheesy laughable lines, but the vast majority of the is ok, feels genuine for now.

I love the overall feel and yes, it's close to ME 1's.

No they don't look better in 4K either...  

I too loved the Mass Effect franchise.. and whomever made the decision to release this, just blew the entire franchise into gaming purgatory.  And based on the animations and other issues, I HIGHLY doubt they are going to be able to easily repair the damage, not only to the game itself, but any reputation they may have had.   I am 53 so not speaking from the point of a child.  This is the worst game release I have seen in years.

Whomever is responsible for this needs to be fired.
  

Looks like I'm not alone in this. The character models don't look great, the voice to mouth movement is off, and the facial animation is lacking, character movement at times seems blocky, but Tsewe & Malakie coined the biggest problem in the best way, and that's the "doll eyes". They look terribly fake, and have 2 expressions. Surprised and really surprised. All of the above yanks you out of the immersion unfortunately.

I'm guessing the jump pack was supposed to replace being able to run/slide over barricades in ME3, but it doesn't feel as fluid to me. Honestly the cover system seems to have more in common with ME1 (but admittedly better than ME1's), which was the worst of the 3 for use of cover. I also miss being able to direct my squadmates on what power to use, to set up combos. 

As for the actual bugs, I'm sure they will squash them. The facial animations and character realism seem more doubtful of being resolved with a patch, but I'm going to hold out hope for some character animation polish in a patch.

I'm sure I'll end up loving the game, but unfortunately with some reservations. I wish EA would stop pushing for releases before Bioware is done with a game. I'm pretty certain that was the reason for the original terrible ending to ME3. Once EA gave Bioware time to do the directors cut ending, then the game was really good, but unfortunately the original terrible ending had already left a bad taste in a lot of mouths.

I'm 5 hours in as of last night (3/22), and getting ready to go back in today.  But my early impressions are that many areas feel rough or rushed.  I've played ME1 & ME2 6 times each, and ME3 twice (2nd time with the alt ending mod).  I loved that whole series, there was just so much emotion involved with your companions.  MEA has so much to live up to, which I think is part of the problem with all the negative comments, here and elsewhere.  My first thought in starting out was: "Man, I want Commander Shepard back, he could straighten things out."  But I'm adjusting, and I really feel the story will play out well, but as I say, I'm only 5 hours in.

So I don't hate it, and as of yet, I don't love it.  But I do like it and am having fun.  I also ended up loving DA:I, which received a lot of bashing.  I can live with some poor animations as long as the story stays (or gets) strong.

One thing that I dislike right now is "check point saves" on main quest lines.  I hate check point saves.  I would really like a quick save option.  One thing that I'm impressed with is the stability and smoothness running at 4k on a gtx1080.  Variable settings, some ultra, some high, some medium, but no stuttering or slowdowns.  Not running Fraps, so I'm not sure what the actual FPS is, but it looks very smooth.
