Mouse issues

Ok so my issue is that on ME1 in the MELE the mouse icon keeps rapidly blinking in and out (like i can see it flash on screen for a second then it's gone).  Further upon starting the game the camera just spins.

System

CPU: Ryzen 9 3900 XT 3.8 GHz

GPU: Radeon RX 5600 XT

RAM: 16 Gigs

OS: Windows 10 Home x64

The mouse isn't old and this is the only game it is happening on.  I've attached the DxDiag file for reference.  Any help on this would be appreciated.

Do either of you have any other peripherals connected at all that you can try unplugging? Headsets, joysticks, charging stations, etc?

In addition to disabling the Origin and Steam overlays, it's also worth checking for any other programs that have an overlay such as Discord and the Xbox Game Bar in Windows.

  • I'm having the same spinning issue and non existent mouse cursor as well. Have tried the fixes, but no joy.

As an aside, it does seem like the interface thinks I should be using a controller. I only use a mouse and keyboard, but options like "A" to confirm, B for back, "Y" for picture mode are present. I can't choose options using my mouse in the menu.

Ok Holy Cow I finally found what the issue is (I think).  I had a joystick plugged in initially and even after unplugging it, I still was having the issue.  I looked in my device manger and found that it was still registered as being connected.  I uninstalled the device and then restarted my game.  This seems to have solved it as far as I can tell.  If it happens again I'll update.  Double check your device manager to figure out if you've missed anything you thought that was unplugged.

I got the same problem but i switch from full screen to borderless windowed mode and it solve the mouse blinking problem for me.

  • Hello, I'm having an issue with my cursor while using dual monitors in Mass Effect 1. Basically, the cursor is not locking into the screen that Mass Effect 1 is displayed on. Instead, when I need to move my mouse right in-game, the cursor will eventually end up on my 2nd monitor. I've tried switching to borderless window and back to fullscreen, but the problem still persists. It's a pretty big issue because if I get into combat and have to left click, but my cursor is on my 2nd monitor, it will minimize the game. The only way to play ME1 on my computer now is to disable my 2nd monitor. I provided a picture, but note I had to 'draw' my mouse cursor to show you what I'm talking about, as the cursor wasn't showing up when I PrtScn.

  • I use two monitors as well but don't have this issue, though I do have it in ME1 classic.

  • I had a similar issues, I got rid of it by deactivating my discord overlay for the game,

The only other USB item that I've got plugged in are my headphones, which I tested after your question.  Unplugging the headphones prior to starting the game did nothing to stop the spinning.

I don't have another mouse that I can test with cps test.  It is a wireless mouse and even when I turn the mouse off, the issue persists.  This issue is not present in any other game tested.

I've also tried launching from both Steam and Origin.  It did not make any difference.

I have updated to the latest patch and this issue is still there when using a wireless mouse. It automatically works fine as soon as I unplug the wireless one and plug in my basic wired USB mouse. Any fixes?

    Hey @Christytaut,

If this is working normally with your wired mouse and only seems to be acting up with the wireless one, it may be worth checking to see if there are any software updates available for that wireless mouse.

For example making sure Razer Synapse is up to date if it's a Razer mouse, or the equivalent program for your particular situation.
