I'm not even sure they did much with the 1.05 patch. On Gold and in Sandstorm earlier I got screwed when whole team but me went down in the APEX mission. (No revives during wave) The observers were pinning me down from across the map. This range is kinda ridiculous for their beam weapons and the strength at which they can still hit at pinpoint accuracy. And even with disruptor ammo, annihilation and throw/lance was seemingly tough to get through their shields because I couldn't even get one to take out without 3+ and some assemblers attacking me. Thoughts on how to improve them by nerfing them but without going too drastic or making them too easy?

Please... Cut the elitist ego out as if get good is the solution to everything. Map length beams are bs regardless.

Solution: Make every enemy even without detonations stagger by powers.

Perhaps they should be subject to their energy weapons over heating, give you a little window that they have to stop firing to cool down where you can take few shots

The problem arises when there are too many biotics in the team, while biotics are fun to use against regular foes you are extremely limited and have to be very skilled to use your abilities for maximum efficiency when facing shielded and armored foes, especially when these appear in numbers. I love observers due to mainly being a sniper, they are easy to pick out one at a time while having escape routes and means to fend off attackers if jumped. Proximity mines, grenades, turbocharge and stealth are all good for getting out of ambushes while sniping. Biotics are limited in weapon weight, my kineticist can currently carry a Hurricane and that´s it. It makes me superb vs certain foes but I feel at times utterly useless against others ... unfortunately these are the foes that usually cause the most problems.

Nerf Observers for real this time please

The beam needs to falloff over distance, ie do less damage the further away you are. Also agree that it should cause the observer to overheat. Just as the weapons do. Can't have fairness in games, unless rules apply to both sides.
Otherwise you need to build better characters.. carry plasma weapons, which shred remnant etc

I do not have an issue with observers as I like a good challenge. I would not object to observers damage scaling down at various distances for the sake of other players. The danger close damage needs to remain high so you cannot kill an observer with impunity before it has a chance to function by pushing you in and out of cover.

I like the observers. they stop you steamrolling and make you grab cover. If you are over the other side of the map with a sniper rifle then an observer should be able to shoot you with equal force from across the map at the same distance.
Cover works fine, you can hurt them just fine if you use cover correctly and as their damage is damage over time when they are firing on you anyway you can break that damage by using the cover. If you are going to stand in the open or offer yourself as a target then you are going to get hurt. simple as.
So no, i like observers just as they are.
