Pre-rendered cutscenes SLOW 10-14FPS full trilogy

Hi! I have contacted EA support via phone, chat, and ticket, but they are all sending me in circles to each other saying "for further support..." so now I'm here hoping for further support.

I've been playing Mass Effect and since the beginning I've noticed pre-rendered cutscenes are playing at about 10-14 fps. The audio completely desyncs and then I have to watch the rest in silence for the rest. It's ... not fun.

I have referenced previous threads on this issue and attempted any fixes I have found, but none have worked. I have tried updating all of my drivers, resetting my graphics drivers, reinstalling EA, reinstalling Mass Effect, installing ALOV, forcing the game back to 1080p instead of 4k, disabling the overlay, clearing all caches, manually downscaling all the pre-rendered videos to 1080p, and a different monitor. DXDiag report attached.

I don't know what to do at this point. Help please?

Please preform a clean boot and test the Game in clean boot mode.

Make sure your virus scanner and other security software and also Afterburner and similar software is disabled.

Hi, thanks for the response! @holger1405  I followed the instructions and did a clean boot, but the game actually won't launch at all after following those instructions. The cursor changes to the loading one for a few seconds and then nothing happens.

So I did it again with steam and EA services started and it ran fine. The videos are still extremely slow. No change.

You said you reset your graphics driver, did you use DDU?

You use the 1660ti, not an eGPU?

      • Hit Windows key and X.
      • Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Command prompt (Administrator),” or "Windows Terminal (Administrator)", whichever option is offered.
      • Inside the PowerShell or CMD, enter “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Checkhealth” without quotes. > ENTER.
      • If errors are found, notify us. If no errors were found reaped steps 1 & 2.
      • Inside the PowerShell or CMD, enter “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes. > ENTER.
      • The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here.
      • After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key and X again.
      • Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Command Prompt (Administrator).
      • Inside the PowerShell or CMD, enter “sfc /scannow” without quotes. >ENTER.
      • Post the message you receive at the end of the processes here.

    @holger1405

Thank you. I did take these steps.

After this I did a clean boot and launched the game. The videos are still very slow. ☹️

    Try to repair the game.

(Origin: Game Library > Right-click the game cover > Repair)

(EA app: My Collection > Click on the three dots on the game cover > Repair)
(Steam: Game Library > Right-click the game > Properties > Local Files > Verify integrity of game files.)

If that don't helps post a new DxDiag please.

I ended up completely reinstalling windows trying to get it to work and it still doesn't. I'm just going to assume there's something about my system that causes it to happen. If I ever find a fix, I'll post it here.
