Same here. Game worked fine until a few weeks ago, now hard locks my steam deck partway through startup of ME1. There’s discussions about this on the Steam forums as well.
For me EA App's latest version also hard crashes for proton with Sims 4. Hilariously, Sims 4 starts up fine sometimes if the App crashes just moments late enough, but then complains it can't do half the stuff due to EA App crashing. That the entire game works but only this app doesn't speaks volumes, in my opinion.
Why can't EA just test EA App on Proton and Steam Deck before pushing out updates that break everything? Especially since the games are usually fine, so when using Steam around it anyway with EA App nothing but a glorified wrapper this seems particularly sad and maddening.
