Will the original Mass Effect games and their DLC still be available once Legendary Edition is out? There are games that get delisted once their remake is made, and I don't have a rig capable of running LE. I haven't pulled the trigger on the original games yet, but I'd still like that option.
I plan to continue to run a copy of Mass Effect 3, simply to enjoy the multiplayer from time to time.
If people have a copy of the originals, I'd be surprised to see any central effort to stop people playing them, though it's conceivable the originals would not be available to buy at some indeterminate point in the future.
For the single player experience, the MELE is certainly the easiest way to access the games and 40 DLCs.
I think they said it will stay up, but I don't remember when and where they said it.
I still have the discs, but Mass Effect 1 has that weird copy protection where you're only allowed to install the game on 5 different PCs. Total, not just at the same time. 😕
Did you redeemed the code in Origin?
The game will not be rendered unplayable in Origin or Steam, people paid money for them. 😉
EA also did released a SecuROM De-Authorization Tool for some games, ME1 included. Should still be online.
Windows 10 does not support SecuROM any more anyway.

Yeah, sure. I haven't installed from the disc in a decade. This is more a worst-case-scenario situation where EA goes out of business and drops the Origin service, since no one actually ever owns the games they buy. 😛
Yeah, that is a worst-case-scenario for all DRM Clients, and it already happened.
