Try click elsewhere when launch the game, that you will get a small window on the top left and the game wont crash so fast, but this you will need a controller, using a keyboard it wont let you type anything in
It doesn't give me the error now but it stops loading at the point where I'd normally get the error. So it still crashed but it didn't show the error this time around.
Then try use NVIDIA Experience to adjust your in game graphics setting to high preset
Already tried that, sadly none of the changes I make with Nvdia seem to actually change things
Did you close the origin in-game, its in the origin application setting
Yeah...

Your machine may be defaulting to your Intel video processing on your CPU rather than your nvidia GPU.
- Open the nvidia Control Panel
- Click Manage 3D settings
- Click the Program Settings tab
- Click the Add button
- Select the game from the list or click browse and navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Need for Speed Payback\NeedForSpeedPayback.exe
- Select NeedForSpeedPayback.exe and then Open
- Customise individual settings if you like
- Exit nvidia control panel and try playing.
Please try this and let us know your results. Thanks.
Sadly that didn't work either however, i found the error.
error message is: DirectX function "device -> CreateTexture2D (&texDesc, desc.subResourceCount != 0 ?reinterpret_cast<const D3D11_SUBRESOURCE_DATE*>(desc.sub.ResourceDate) : 0, &texture->m_texture2d)" failed with DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED ("The video card has been physically removed from the system, or a driver upgrade for the video card has occured. ") GPU: "",Driver:38813. This error is usually cause by the graphics driver crashing; try installing the latest drivers. Also, make sure you have a supported graphics card with at least 512MB.

I have seen reports that using older video drivers may help prevent that error. Can you download and perform a clean install of the following driver set and let us know how that goes, thanks.
http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/119914/en-us
Installed that driver (382.53) apperently NFS requires at least the 384.94 version or later.
After having (clean) installed that one I launched the game again and I'm still getting the DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED however the error function this time is
"Dx11Renderer::tryMap" failed with DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED
So it's still giving the DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED but now just gives another error function instead of the "device -> CreateTexture2D (&texDesc,desc.subResourceCount != 0 ?reinterpret_cast<const D3D11_SUBRESOURCE_DATE*>(desc.sub.ResourceDate) : 0, &texture->m_texture2d)"
Anyhow since I haven't said so before; thanks for all the help so far and I do hope we can resolve this issue!

Often, especially on newer Windows versions, secondary game installs can be skipped. To eliminate that as a potential cause of your issue please do the following:
Search your game install location for *.exe
Right click and run the three vcredist files and the DXSETUP file as an Administrator and then either run/install or repair depending on what option is available
Once those steps are done, reboot and then retry playing
Again, post your results here, thanks.
Repaired and reinstalled them and rebooted yet to no avail. Still getting the same error.
- Same here,
Still crashes at startup Hello i am an AMD user (gpu) with Win10(r9 fury nitro), and if i set post processing at 2 i have no more directx error. It's clear is that a game issue, not a driver issue if we have the same message with AMD & NVIDIA like the stuttering only in the prologue. Try to erase settings in your document folder (just the settings).
I can't even get to the prologue, I get the error 10-ish seconds after launch/pressing the start button.
- Any solutions yet ?
Uhm why is this marked as solved, I still have the problem?!!!!

Sorry so many troubleshooting steps have not yet worked for you.
Can you download and install the Media Feature packs relevant to your operating system (you probably do not have an N or KN edition of Windows) here:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3145500/media-feature-pack-list-for-windows-n-editions
Test again and if the issue continues, post your Dxdiag so we can take a look please.

I also have a DirectX Error everytime I try to launch the game:
I tried nearly everything I could find on any forum.
- all drivers are up to date
- tried reinstalling graphicsdriver multiple times
- tried other versions of graphicsdriver
- reinstall/ repair the game
- reinstall Directx
- nothing is overclocked
- tried to start the .exe as administator
- tried different settings through Geforce Experience
- disable origin overlay
I even played the game about 4 hourse when it was released. Then the Windows 10 fall update (Version 1709) came and since this time the game keeps crashing.

Game is extremely sensitive on cpu clock, just lower cpu for 200 MHz and try game then
Here's my DxDiag

It may actually be worthwhile for you to try older video drivers as we have seen reports of those being a little more stable
http://www.nvidia.com/Download/Find.aspx?lang=en-us
I see you have software from VB-Audio, is that up to date?
Are you connecting your monitor via DVI or HDMI, try HDMI if you are not currently using that.
Long shot: disconnect your secondary display
- Anonymous9 years ago
Also turn on game mode on win 10.
Thanks for the tip with the secondary display.
I disabled the second screen in the windows settings (right click on desktop -> display settings -> multiple displays) and it works great.
Though when I enable the second screen while ingame, it still crashes.
But at least I am able to play finally :D
