Have a 'supported' logitech g29. I don't think there is any support on PC? I've tried every solution EA as well as the community has recommended so far.
Wheel is plugged in, and recognized in all other supported games. When I startup NFS payback, it asks to press enter key. Usually with an xbox gamepad you just press any button and it recognizes it. The game is unresponsive to any inputs from the steering wheel at all.
Latest logitech gaming suite installed v8.96.88.
- Made sure that the g29 was the only installed device under 'game controllers' in windows. Made no difference.
Tried repair game, made no difference.
- Switch is set to PS4 mode.
Reinstalled graphics drivers, G software, disabled and enabled origin ingame overlay. Did not change anything.
- Restarted OS. Did nothing.
- Tried to make a profile in the G software, set as persistent and default as one answer recommended. Did nothing.
- Closed Discord, teamviewer, And radeon relive/overlay in case they were causing an overlay or something conflicted.
- Win 10 pro 64bit Version 10.0.16299 Build 16299, AMD RX vega 64, Ryzen 1700x, 16gb ram
Other games do not have these kinds of issues and just work immediately.
I believe you need to switch the g29 to PS3 if you're using it on PC. Give that a shot.
I plugged in my Thrustmaster TS-PC yesterday and it was recognized by NFS Payback. I'm using it on a PC with triple monitors spanned via eyefinity. However, there are issues.
1. FFB is terrible and notchy. It's playable but something just doesn't feel right.
2. You can't adjust any settings or map any buttons at all. It's troubling to think that the latest iteration of NFS in this current era is so broken and incomplete that it has no direct input customization. It really isn't that hard, EA. You've done it before. This option is available even from games 10 years ago. And it was implemented fairly well in their previous iteration of NFS 2015 (dubbed 2016 for PC wheel compatibility). NFS 2016 allowed you to map custom wheel inputs which means that any wheel recognized by your PC would be compatible and playable. There are even advanced options to tinker with such as steering wheel sensitivity and deadzones.
Why not implement the same options in NFS Payback?
And further, for the console guys, EA, why not add all wheels that are natively available in the respective consoles?
If you do all the above, then you would have all of your loyal fans covered and happy. EA, you've done it before. You can do it again.
I have a Thrustmaster T150 setup, and I agree it is frustrating not being able to remap buttons. On Need for Speed 2016 I remapped my nitrous to one of the paddles and my handbrake to my clutch (I just play NFS type games automatic instead of manual). The default handbrake setting on Payback, which I can't change, is the square button, being the furthest button in for my right thumb. How does that make sense when they could've at least mapped it to circle?
NFS 2016 also handled perfectly for me without changing my wheel setting from 900 degrees rotation. For Payback I had to lower it to the lowest setting, being 140 degrees before it felt playable.
That being said, I do like how it handles at 140 degrees and I enjoy using the wheel. I would just like to be able to remap the buttons and also have access to advanced wheel settings.
So I recently bought a new computer and now NFS Payback will not recognize my T150 at all. I see others have had this problem, but there does not seem to be a solution yet. Hopefully there will be a fix in an upcoming update?

Don't hold your breath you will pass out from anger no there will be now thrustmaster support unless you use 3rd party software that is not great at FFB Wheel setups your fkd I believe is the right term and EA says thank you for your purchase. Sorry to be so blunt this is just the most ridiculous thing the game has been out for so long and non stop complaints of no STEERING WHEEL SUPPORT IN A RACING GAME and our request have gone with less than an answer not even a were sorry. I cant imaging why EA is having a hard time with their games and people to play them. EA you guys are a bunch of brainless hax that charge money for incomplete projects. I will no longer purchase EA games or Origin at that matter just because of this kind of * right here.
@rek80 I don't think your car wheels rotate to maximum when you turn your steering wheel to the maximum in one direction. I mean that with the steering wheel I am not able to do a 360 on road, but if I use the keyboard arrow I am able. Can you confirm? Do you understand what am I saying?
And in other order, I don't believe how can EA be so silent for so long. Is it too f***ing hard to apologize to your customers for the big fake you sold them? Are you currently working on a steering sensitivity in-game setting or you don't even care??? Why have you created this forum if you don't respond? Are you EA making fun of us?
There is no point in getting angry. EA will not respond through this channel. Only an occasional "standard response" with not so usefull advice. The best you can do, is use Google and read a lot.
I got my wheel and ffb working after unplugging everything and only connecting my wheel. Payback all of a sudden recognizes my wheel (G27) and it all works. Unfortunately no remapping of axis or buttons.. But at least it works.
As for the sensitivity: there is a in-game feature (hold arrow on controller/wheel down) where you are allowed to change the sensitivity of your steering. It helps a little. But most of the times you must resort to drifting to make the sharper corners. Good luck with that, in the beginning of the game when your car doesn't have that much power.
The best you can do is install x360ce. Which allows you to program your wheel as a gamepad. And also allows you to set the sensitivity and speed al lot sharper. Only... I didn't get the ffb to work on my wheel. Others claim they could, but I tried everything and still nothing. I made due with the center spring in profiler. Works well for me.
Hope this helps you a little.
- Thanks for your quick response. I will try to reinstall the game then disconnect everything and try with the wheel, but I don't have many hopes because mine is not Logitech. It is Thrustmaster 300rs.
I know of that option, it is the live tuning button however for me it doesn't pop up. I tried with all the buttons from the wheel, starting with the D-pad down. Then I also tried with the default keyboard button for that but is not popping up. Maybe just later in game with other cars? I have no clue.
About the x360ce I already tried it, I am able to drive with that but I cannot bypass the game original feedback through it. If I enable it, the game won't start. So I can only use the feedback which comes with x360ce, which is actually a feedback translated from a controller and it's not even 5% as good as it should feel in a racing game with a wheel. For example in NFS 2015 the wheel feedback was excellent. Also in The Run. If a modder would be able to import that into Payback would be great, but small chances... Cheers mate! Look at this link. It works pretty much the same for payback:
The buttons and axis can be selected/programmed in the "general" tab of Controller 1. A bit of trail and error. I had to try a few times before I selected the right button.
And make sure you do exactly as in the video in the "game settings" tab.
It worked for me,and still does.
Yes, thanks! As I mentioned I already had the x360ce set up previously, but the problem is that if I enable in the Advanced tab the Pass Through force feedback, then the game doesn't load anymore.
Instead if I use in the Force Feedback tab the PeriodicSine ffb, thew game is playable but the wheel motion and feedback is not realistic.
So the only choice for me would be to buy this expensive device https://collectiveminds.ca/shop/allconsoles/drivehub/ , but I am not sure if my PC would see my Thrustmaster wheel as a Logitech. Anyway this device is way more expensive than the game. And all this trouble because they were not able to make the Thrustmaster wheel compatible with the PC as they did it in NFS 2015 or The Run.
One more thing! Why is this set as Solved if I search on Google or if I save it as a bookmark? I bet EA set it as Solved.
It is UNSOLVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
