It in turn sets up a 2 on 0 breakaway for the CPU. What are we doing? The speed of the pass shouldn’t have mattered in this scenario either because if it was too fast one of the two *should* attempt to stop it right?? It’s almost equivalent to some of the early clips I posted in late October/ early November with the teammate lifting their skate even though that player was the intended target of the pass

@BoredJason13 Nobody can explain anything hahahha! They will let the devs know and they might look into it in 3-5 years. They only have 9 more months to make more chel clothes for next year's game! What I have found is that typically the offense always has the advantage with puck possesion and you REALLY have to do something on defense to change that. Simply poking often times means your guy plants himself into the ground and if the poke doesn't have the correct amount of power then they just regain possesion and skate past you as you have to start skating again. However, randomly on some passes it does seem the game WANTS to pass it to a defender. I've noticed (I use analog passing still) that when I try to pass to someone (maybe) I'm a TINY bit off in my pass but it seems the pass directs itself straight to a defender and they pick it off clean. It's not often, and seems to happen more in the offensive zone or near the blue line heading into the zone. It's the worst when your guy is in perfect position for the pass heading into the offensive zone and it just targets them on a breakaway. I mean if I missaimed by a foot in the game.. that's what 1/10 of a centimeter on the controller? The game didn't recognize who I intended to pass it to? It seems like they want people to use button passing. Personally I like the analog passing more and to me it helped create the skill gap but it seems EA wants to limit that as much as possible and create artificial parody.

@BoredJason13 There are multiple calculations going on for this. Speed of the pass, passing ratings of the players involved, positioning, etc. It would be good to see a better video of this as the one you provided is kind of stutter-y.

This is actually a fantastic demonstration of how EA's passing mechanic needs some fixing.

@KidShowtime1867 In the clip it thinks that 28 is the recipient and somehow not 29 or 6. That’s what I’m so confused about. Like if the pass is “too fast” wouldn’t the offensive awareness kick in to try and knock down the pass (I’d even take a bobble in that scenario too)?

I think you're right. It might also have a lot to do with the Online Pass Assist in the controller settings. Seems like moving this slider lower - to say 30-40% - might limit the times this happens and why some people see it more than others (most people leave it at default 100%)

Thank you. As previously mentioned, check your Online Assist. You could lower the online pass accuracy like @KidShowtime1867 mentioned. This also means all your passes are going to require more precise aiming though.

That fix it? I've been having the same problem all year, just happened right now. My guess is that there's an issue with the new icon passing. It seems to function as if I pressed one of the icon passing buttons and all I'm doing is manually aiming and passing. It happens almost every game for me, really annoying to watch. They said they didn't change passing this year but this seems to be a new issue for me.
