NHL 26 early wishlist (let’s make NHL great again)

First off I will say nhl 25 is actual a huge step up im liking it so far , but it’s missing some details to feel complete..

  1. full presentation needs to return and add more to what we had in the past games
  2. In edit player menu have the ability to change the color of sticks and gloves (nhl 2k had this) and now players have been customizing their own as well. Customizable tape job (adjust length on shaft and blade and not have it preset) And add the ability to edit goalie masks.
  3. hitting and collisions need to be tweaked to more realism.

Franchise:

  1. be able to control more than one team
  2. able to scout and sign players from other leagues(I.E europe)
  3. Real coaches or at least customizable coaches
  4. A customizable GM character,  have conversations be shown like it is in fifa where your Gm Meets the player.
  5. office similarly to dynasty mode in nhl 2004
  6. On the hub where we get details of what went on in other games we can see highlights (either by clip or a screen shot) with description such as ‘stamkos nets a hat trick in last nights win’ and a small clip or screen shot showing stamkos scoring his 3rd goal.

Be a pro:

  1. change up the whole be a pro game mode make it more like life the life.
  2. ability to use NhL players to continue their career or an nhl legend
  3. Street clothes for off days and make it interactive.
  4. If I buy a condo or a house i want to actualy see my self living in it. Same with the car we get, be able to drive around (a small map) and not just be a attribute boost.
  5. Pond hockey pick up games you can walk to or drive to when you leave your ‘house’
  6. Call it a ‘hall of fame room’ similar to skybox 2k had in nhl2k5 where you had the Stanley cup and other interactive stuff and unlockables.
  7. Be able to decide to start from being drafted at 18 or create a 30 year old forward who just signed with an nhl team etc..
  8. more interactive with teammates and coaches and GM
  9. list of teams you want to be traded to etc..

extras

  1. add winter classic and all star game (skills + game) both as a play now mode and also in franchise and be a pro.
  2. player retiring playing their last game get a ovation from crowd. Announce the player will retire 1 game before their last
  3. skate with the cup (playoff mode, season mode , franchise and be a pro)
  4. Tweak the fighting engine and allow more than one fight  happening at once.

this is a lot of an ask, but if we can get half of these implemented we are definitely heading Into greatness with NhL games.

  • I’d like to see the KHL included and able to sign players from there. If that’s not possible, just put the khl players in a free agents type folder….

Perhaps a late addition to this list, but if not in NHL 26, try for NHL 27: The ability to remap or customize your controller buttons. For example: I hate protecting the puck using R3. I feel it wears down my thumbstick too much. I want to press and hold X to protect instead, like the old days.

I really don't see that version of puck protect returning. This was something we had complaints about for years because it enabled unrealistically protecting the puck while backskating. The way it's implemented currently is a lot more realistic.

It was just an example I gave. I remember on PC versions back in EA’s heyday that I was able to implement my own control scheme by remapping virtually every button. My thumbs didn’t like the placement of certain buttons doing certain functions on presets. Remapping allowed me to be feel more comfortable on my controller. Here’s another example: instead of having the defence set up to check using triangle or circle, I could change it to my right thumb stick up and down (instead of simple stick checks). Right on the d-pad is to change lines in BAP. I’d like to set that to circle. Changing controller button functions in their presets have me pressing wrong buttons at the wrong time all the time because change gets difficult as I get older.

You can remap the buttons on both consoles. It's just not something you can do in-game. So, unless your controller supports multiple profiles, the remapped buttons would apply to everything else as well. I think it might be more difficult to remap puck protect since it only happens when hustling and turning.

I'd like to see pregame montages, sponsor logos & starting goalies.

Could we have a year without James Cybulski and Cheryl Pounder? its been them for years, change it up.

  • For be a pro: make your own decisions like now but that actually affects where you play. If you act like your getting drafted 1st when your projected to be 10-20th that’ll hurt your draft stock. You can choose to skip or go to practice late and get more energy but you will get criticized by management and players and might get sent down to the AHL. And if you are in the AHL and they call you back up, you have the choice to decline or if it’s playoffs. Stay with the AHL team for the playoffs. I like the idea of having it kind of like 2k but instead of having an online city, having a setting to make it just offline but only practice and cpu games will be available. There’s so much potential in be a pro it’s wild. Also incorporate the ECHL because there’s a lot of people that get drafted in round 3-4 that go to the ECHL for development then work their way up or again you can decline call-ups and stay in the ECHL. I would say incorporate SPHL and FPHL but they’re still too small. Maybe in a couple of years.
