While playing goalie, i've noticed a bug with the manual hugging post action. It seems after releasing the post hugging button (L1 for PS5). The goalie will automatically do a hard push off the post, launching the goalie to the top of the crease, leaving the net open and vulnerable for an easy goal.
I noticed in the control settings that there’s a “challenge” feature tied to that button as well as post hug. Guessing that’s what you’re experiencing. I’ll see if I can get that to happen and if there’s a way to prevent it or anything.
So after playing some G I can see what you mean. I assume it was added to help when the puck goes to the point from down low. But you just have to be careful and not always push up on the LS out of a post hug. If you let go of post hug before pushing up it won’t give you the challenge move.
