I noticed the same thing, all of my normal game names have been taken and it would only let me use one if I added 1990 to yet none of them are on the user list if you search them. It makes me like origin less than I already do.

The issue is with the dash in the name. It won't return the name in the search, but in our database it will occupy the name.
Try searching the same name without the dash to see whether you can find a user occupying that name then.
Unfortunately going by a different handle is the only solution at this point.

I cant get anything to work, I need to change my name to reflex-US- for a clan, Ive tried 4reflex-US-, _reflex_-US- __reflex__-US-, xreflex-US- and everytime I try something new it still says its invalid, I've also tried 3 different emails since I needed to change that as well and it says its invalid

DICE TeamA player can choose to not be found by players he doesn't know. EA usernames are also shared amongst games so it is possible that the player isn't on Battlelog.
i think it is bad for origin and ea, they must fix this.
Anything I try wont work. I have tried the most random things and i have tried changing it back to what it originally called (Agnieszka1122334) which i highly doubt would be taken 10 minutes after changing it. Please fix this!👎😠

I wish they could do i like steam, you have an initial username at start, and then your screen name can be the same as someone else, but if they needed to contact you specifically, they'd search by email, or first username.
I changed my user as a joke now i cant change it back. ☹️ I honestly hate EA.
