I think it's some sort of input lag. If you wait for the animation or meter, then you botch the swing. It seems to be anywhere from 2-5 seconds behind.
Might be the same with hoe the menu switches take a few seconds.
I have EA Pro in my PC and tried it there and it felt like a whole new game. My PC is old i have a 2nd gen Intel i7 (2600) and a Rx 570 GPU. Some of the cut scenes and what not stuttered, but the swing was alot better. I was still slow and over swung a little, but the animation was much closer to what i was seeing on the screen. This was with the same monitor and even the same controller. I'm thinking it might have to do with the 30fps on consoles. To me the console version is borderline unplayable compared to PC. I should also mention in PC i used a fresh golfer w/o finese shot and 15-20 less yrds of distance and i had an eagle and 3 birdies in 6 holes. On Xbox i think i made 3-4 birdies in about 40 holes.
