I have this same issue. I was able to temporarily resolve it prior to todays patch by going into the EA App/Settings/Application Settings/Disable In-Game Overlay. It used to occur frequently and upon disabling the overlay, I was able to play over 300 holes without issue. After todays patch (5/16/23), this issue has occurred twice within 20 holes.
Have tried all of the suggestions without success.
- @EA_Illium Unfortunately, this is occurring again after today's update. Twice already within 20 holes, whereas prior to patch, I was up to over 300 holes after disabling the in-game overlay. There are a couple other threads of the same DirectX error message. Please make sure developers are aware of this bug.

You are not alone very aggravating!
I managed to solve my problem. The stuck at 14% was solved by deleting the game and the EA app and then resinstalling the app onto a different drive and installing the game there again. The direct X issue seems to be when you run out of Vram: so just lower the resolution and it should run fine.
During gameplay, the screen freezes after the completion of a round.

I am getting this error randomly, but often enough that it makes playing the game difficult. Sometimes I can play 36 holes, sometimes it will happen every 4 holes. Unfortunately, it prevents me from playing any ticketed tournaments as very often, I will just crash and lose my tickets.
Actions taken:
- Fresh install- all drivers checked for updates - current
- cleared EA app cache
- assured windows up to date
- assured all VC++ is up to date
- set settings in windows/nvidia to high performance gpu
- ran system file checker to assure system files weren't corrupt
- verified game files through steam
- attempted to find background programs that could hinder game
- no OC present on system cpu
Any suggestions are welcome. I can play the game, but as you cannot resume tournaments or private matches with friends, it is frustrating to be booted on the 8th hole or 16th hole of a round.
Installed a older gpu driver and it fixed mine.

I wanted to confirm if you are still running into DirectX errors?
If so can you try some of the steps other community members have mentioned in this thread and let us know if the issue continues?
- @EA_Illium Hello thank you for checking. I am still getting the errors. I have tried nearly everything I can find in the thread. Additionally to all that above, I have simply tried reducing graphical options in an attempt to blindly eliminate the possible setting causing the issue. Lately, its occurring less, but it occurs so randomly its so hard to know if my actions have had an effect, or if its just happening less.
I don't want to install an older driver as that may effect the operation of other games. - EA_Illium3 years ago

@SooupyGaming Are you using a laptop or desktop? Also to confirm do you run anything else when on your PC when trying to play?
