It plays far too much like Mario or Hot Shots Golf than a challenging simulation.

I'm not an expert, but I would still like a realistic game of golf. I have absolutely no issue providing game that caters to all people.
2K does this... the default (PRO) settings are middle of the road and should cater to most. When I was playing the game I used MASTER or LEGEND, because I had no issues shooting around or over par. My ego didn't get in the way, as long as my playing partners and I felt we had a challenging experience that didn't get too frustrating. We actually enjoyed the grind, and even if we shot a +10 sometimes it was still fun.
For those that struggled with PRO, they could have gone all the way down to AMATEUR where swing tempo wasn't enabled, but it seems some people cannot do that.
Don't get me wrong, 2K has some serious flaws as well, I have hated the swing speed since it was changed in 2K21, and how it is inconsistent. It will speed up sometimes when you need to hit a delicate shot.
But EA needs to make the swing velocity based to add realism and challenge to the game.
I remember hearing in an early interview they didn't want to do this because they felt it made the game too difficult. My question is too difficult for who? The developers?
Now we have a game that has no teeth.

I play tour difficulty. I consider myself an average gamer whose played every major golf game made and feel this one is very similar to the old ea sports golf games besides the randomness. think I avg like -5 on 9 holes. I honestly8 don't see what the problem is and this thread is bonkers. All EA needs to add is turn based head to head modes, a lobby, a text chat on pc, and make the game crossplay. Otherwise. RIP. All things talked about in this thread are minor. This is a video game e-sport.
