Long Drive?

What exactly constitutes a “Long Drive”? Does it have to travel a certain distance or what? All the caddie tip says is that a long drive = a driver + power of 100% + a fairway in regulation which as far as I can tell I am doing (sometimes maybe hitting it a little more than 100%) and yet I can’t get it to register as a “hit 10 long drives” in the challenge that I’m playing 🤔🙄😑

  • @Cowboy1963 You need power of 100% or more, a driver and hit the fairway. It is tricky to do with the stick. It is more achievable with the 3-click control. For 3-click you aim the shot. The you could go at power a little above the top rectangles. Then it goes back for the bottom rectangles for the accuracy.

Also it has to be a drive shot for it to count, as power drive won't register for the challenge purposes.

They should really adjust the tips given to make the full requirements clear.

    Drive Shot

    Driver as club

    100%+ power

    Fairway in regulation

    Over 300 yards distance achieved.

  • Okay, first off thanks for ALL the replies, good information to know. Secondly……I’m wondering if any spin that you put on that initial drive helps to achieve the long drive criteria? Or does it negate it? 🤔 Or is it possibly just buggy? I only ask because I can hit the first drive off the tee with driver using the drive ability putting spin on the ball while it’s in the air and then the ball lands in the fairway and stops at say 320 yards and then does count as a long drive, but then on the next hole I do pretty much the exact same thing but the ball stops at around 302 yards and doesn’t count as a long drive 🤔 So in other words does the ball have to get to 300+ yards naturally?

If you are using the stick to swing everything must total over 100%.  By that I mean if power is 101%, but your downswing speed is only 98%, your total power is  99%.

After a little searching, I found there's already a lengthy discussion about the same things here:

    https://answers.ea.com/t5/General-Discussion/Long-Drive-Fairway-Challenges/td-p/12475403

It seems that your swing speed is a factor, I don't know what your tempo is like, but maybe it's something to look into?

There's some good information and discussion overall, so hopefully you may find the solution you need. Good luck with it, and have fun. 🙂

I would rather go naturally than add spin. The game has some issues with backspin where ball could go backwards once it hits fairway. For swing stick, the max power I can get is 101%. For 3 click, I could get at most 109% if I let power meter go full; however this shot is not as accurate. If you set power that is around 100% to 104% for 3 click, the shots are more accurate.

@PalomaMarvel24And thanks for that info as well. I only put forward spin on the ball with driver of the tee 🤔 and the three click swing method is definitely something I can try, I’ve just gotten used to using the analog and really uncomfortable at the idea of changing swing methods, but if that’s what it takes to get the job done then so be it 😁👍
