Realistic Pitch Shot Mechanics
Accolades to EA Sports for a realistic game experience. High five for listening to “us” and the current updates! Here’s a real life golf fact that is missing with the game: In the short game using...
The Spinner shot is the one the game really wants you to use rather than the basic pitch I think. Work on unlocking this if you haven't. My guess is that the pitch is intentionally a bit rubbish to fit in with the basic gameplay mechanic of wanting you to develop your player by unlocking shot types and making use of them. I agree the pitch shots have an unrealistic roll out by the way.

Yes, I think the flop is better when it reaches too but unless I'm missing something I think there's a range where it doesn't but the spinner does?

Pitch is definitely a tad unpredictable...I still do use it though, and actually have been fortunate enough to hole several shots. For me, it's about the distance of the pitch, however, I usually place the distance meter about 8-10yards before the pin because the roll is crazy. You obviously have to account for uphill/downhill as well.
I use almost all of the shots to be honest...BUT as you and I have discussed previously, there are A LOT of factors that go into every shot. Again. I think most of us can handle our own in most environments but each shot varies in several ways.
I tend to put full loft on mine to reduce the roll off and it works quite effectively. The spinner shot can be equally as frustrating as it's quite unpredictable in where it lands ive found.
The most annoying part of all the short game shots is just how much the wind plays on them, no way should an 8 yard pitch shot move in the wind as much as it does.

Yes the spinner has quite a large dispersion zone so I can often find myself weighing it up vs a finesse shot. Distance control is easier with the spinner I think but you can be more sure a finesse will aim very close to the flag.

Ive started teeing off some par 3s with finesse, it's definitely a very useful shot. Ive found the wind plays approx half the amount of a normal shot too (1 green grid square per mph thereabouts). I must admit I've not tried it for really short shots but going to give it a go definitely.
