Lost everything - profile, progress and purchases

After the latest update, I suddenly discovered that the player names in my game had changed and were now just called 1, 2, 3, 4. Each of them had zero progress.

I reinstalled the game. After reinstalling, the profiles remained.

When I try to log into the game, I get an Identity Selection prompt — two different IDs appear, and neither of them belongs to me.

I found my old phone, which also has PvZ2 installed and hasn't been updated. My original profile is still there. But I'm afraid to update the game because the profile might disappear too.

EA support was no help. They said they could give me a small amount of in-game currency, but not restore the profile.

What can be done?

Exactly the same thing has happened to me - this is about the fourth time in the last 12 months. Except this time I get the random user logins which aren’t mine, and EA Help is useless. I have no solutions, and from prior experience, it won’t make any difference :(

  • DO NOT UPDATE the PVZ2 APP on your old phone.

The working PVZ2 on your old phone (with your profiles) could be your last chance to get back your old progress so please do the two following actions first before trying out any recovery attempts.

    1. Screenshot your player ID (the working one on your old phone)
    2. Backup your old phone data (I used iTune with my PC & MacBook so if thing goes south, I could bring the phone back to its old working condition)

Once you have the above backup in place, there are a few things I think you could try.

(a.) On iOS, there is a feature to clone (transfer) your Apps & data from the old device to the new device using bluetooth by placing the device close to each other, you could try this out and see if the PVZ2 App and its game-save data being transfered to the new device.

(b.) Register your email address with the PVZ2 App on the old device (if this has not been done so before there is a small amount of gems given as a reward).  Check and ensure it is registered.

(c.) On your new device, disable GameCenter, delete and re-install PVZ2 App manually, once the tutorial is complete and the App is restarted, do the email register using the same email address as you have on the old phone, hopefully, you will be given an iDentity conflict screen with an option to recover your old account (with the correct gamesaved progress)

    Good luck.
