Need to restore my old PvZ2 data to new device

Okay I am going to try to cover all of the bases so everything is perfectly clear because the advice I have received so far has been utterly useless, and the online chat personnel I have spoken to can only reply with form email responses and have been no help at all as a result.

I have a screenshot of my PvZ2 player ID from a very long time ago. Back in the day when you did not link or need to link your accounts to an email address. So this player ID is not linked to any email address (as far as I know) and it is not linked to the email I use for this EA ACCOUNT that I am using as I Type. It is unlinked to anything as far as I know.

The iPad it was being played on is no longer updateable and so the game there is essentially locked there, and it was NEVER backed up (This iPad is from 2015). So now I have a brand new iPad and PvZ2 has been installed on it-BUT I want to have my original game data transferred to the current/working iPad because I had almost all of the plants and all levels completed. I have screenshots of both the original player ID and the current player ID, which I would like to be overwritten.

Hopefully this makes sense now. Once again NOTHING was linked or saved.. Not to the cloud or anywhere else. Remember back in 2015 this was still not as popular or common a thing to do as it is now. I only have the player ID numbers. So I need someone from the tech side at EA GAMES to manually link it for me behind the scenes. They have created tickets for the issue, but no one has gotten back to me and it has been more than 72 hours.

    Hey 7q8psc70sc3o,

The only way to restore or transfer old progress to a new device would be to log into your original copy of the game and make sure that's been linked to your iCloud account.

If this is only available to you on a device that cannot go through that process, unfortunately there won't be a way to transfer the progress. We are unable to transfer progress manually or with the player ID. The only way to do so would be with these steps, however if those are unavailable due to the age of the device, there won't be any way to save that progress, sorry.

WOW! You did not listen or read what I had to say at all did you. My understanding is that with the player ID you could do this behind the scenes manually, link the player ID to my (current) account. It was never linked and/or saved and the iPad is too old to update. It would be impossible to get the info from it now.  Also what is the point of the player ID if it not a copy of the saved info? And can you check to see what email is associated with a player ID, for maybe it was linked to one, but not my main one.

I sure did read your entire post, in my previous reply I confirmed that you said your only copy of this was on an old device that can no longer be updated, and was never linked.

What I clarified is that there is no way to back up or restore a copy of the game that was not linked. Since you were never able to link that game and the device cannot be updated to allow you to log in and try linking, there is no path available to have that transferred.

I'm afraid your understanding that this could be done manually with the Player ID is incorrect, so unfortunately wherever you'd heard that was mistaken. The page I've previously linked is the only way to transfer progress.

Your Player ID helps identify your account, but it has nothing to do with storing the data or making it transferrable. That is necessary for the support team to locate the account. If you're not certain which email was used there, it would be best to contact support directly so they can help look into that with you, though to be clear they cannot manually transfer progress either.

  • But IF by chance it was attached to an email address, they could potentially do it then. When I spoke with someone in the past they made it seem like the player ID was enough info to restore my account. Also online (probably AI) searches, says it is possible to do with just the player ID info. No one has gotten back to me and I have had a ticket open since last week.

Just the player ID is not enough, unfortunately. It sounds like whatever the searches are using as a source, it's not our official help article stating there's not a way to do this manually. Support would be able to help try and locate which email it's attached to potentially, but then it would still require you to log into that particular account and link it before the progress was actually backed up in a way that would let it transfer to a different device.

Since you're not able to get online with the only device that has that progress, that would still prevent it from being transferrable even if you're able to locate the email and have the player ID handy, I'm afraid.
