Elemental rework is a step back

The elemental system rework is somehow a step back from something everyone's already griped about. Now, we have to arbitrarily unlock new plants just for one level just because something like screen door will eventually in some randomized level become resistant to your lobber. Especially since we dont have tingling pult or pult shroom, these elements can make these zombies outright invincible
The problem is elements are weaknesses, not resistances. Requiring us to use exactly one tier 1 to deal with an element just means you spam that tier 1 and everything dies, so every zombie is probably going to get buffed to deal with that. That just makes everything else completely invalid and still isnt fun.
Especially since we have the danger report before each level, we can still see what exact one plant we need to bring to each level and crush them with ease and no strategy.
Resistances changes this- all of your plants are still viable EXCEPT one- meaning that a mix of elements can break down defenses that rely too much on a certain element. The resistances I proposed in my other forum also had downsides, basically turning your attackers into supports, or just changing how the element played. For example, robots, while resisting electric damage, were stunned when taking enough electric damage. Volcanics, while resisting cold damage, take a burst of damage when they get chilled. Campers, while resisting fire damage, created steam piles (honestly in retrospect they could just get exausted). Making resistances with trade offs ensures that every plant still feels like it can do what it should, instead of basically just making every single plant in the game resisted because of how high elemental zombie hp is.
Another important thing is just diversity within an element. We only get one lobber to deal with balloons- they dont even deflate despite their appearance so tall walls do nothing if you dont have cabbage. Screen doors, while weak to backwards strikes of bonk choy and the like, still demand cabbage pults to be dealt with efficiently. In my 45 plant roster, I made sure each element had 3 plants. For example- fire also has burnsai, who actually takes cinderwood's current abilities, while cinderwood is able to boost more projectile types, like dangerine, at higher tiers. I think torchwood being able to change the element of other plants, say with a mix of lightning reed and cinderwood, would be a fun way to keep the elements system while making it fresh and not just putting square blocks in square holes.
But this elemental rework is just the same thing with more means to an end. They already could put whatever element zombies wherever they wanted, its not like multiple elements in a level was impossible previously. This new system just means everything gets bulkier like they did when crits were buffed. Its still not going to be fun. You see acid hazard, bring lime bomb, and lose if you dont have key lye pie and a screen door shows up.
