Are these Super Mix Events even tested...?
Here I was, thinking nothing could possibly come close to how terribly unbalanced "Serve and Volley" was. The Tennis Stars had so much of an advantage, and the only way the Chomp Thing team could hold them off 99% of the time was because of the very broken Scaredy Shrooms. Surely nothing could possibly be worse than that, right?
...I was wrong. "Lunchtime at the Lab" is even worse.
Another event featuring Chompers. It may not have crazy knockback or anything to hinder the Chompers, but...
They have to fight Scientists. Y'know, the guys that excel at close range? Yeah.
The Scientists have complete control almost all of the time. As long as they stick together, there is nothing the Chompers can do to them. Sure, they'll get the occasional Burrow vanquish, but they're helpless after that.
All the Chompers can really do in this event is wander around the map, hoping they encounter a Scientist away from the group, or charge into the group of Scientists, try to get a vanquish with Burrow, and hope they can make it out alive. It almost never happens.
And what else do the Scientists specialize in? Healing? Revival? Yeah.
Any Scientist that goes down to anything that isn't a swallow is almost immediately revived by the group.
You may think it would be smart to keep distance from the Scientists and attack them from afar, but you can't do that, either. Yeti Chomper isn't playable in this event. Neither is the Astronaut.
Basically, for the Chompers to get ANYTHING done, they have to get up close to the Scientists, and 99% of the time, they are immediately taken out by the swarm of mostly Marine Biologists, Paleontologists, and Computer Scientists.
TL;DR, The event favors Scientists, and they almost always (if not always) win.
