Gnomes Eye View Bugged

So on my main account I got all 50 medals in town center, and created an account for my little brother on the ps4 so we can play together. I was trying to help him get the medals so he can also get the acorn skin for 50 medals, but when he stands on the column right outside the gnome shrine he doesn't get it. I managed to get it the first time I tried, and I haven't seen anyone complain about this medal, so I believe it's a split screen only bug. I'm as of writing this trying to get it for him outside of split screen. 

Edit: I tested it outside of split screen and had no issues, so the medal is bugged only in split screen.
