Japanese Version Bug List

Weekly Game Mode Mistranslation

Double Trouble

In the Japanese description

1. Get 10 Vanquishes [0/1]
2. Get 15 Vanquishes [0/15]
3. Deal 20,000 Damage

I've tested in multiple languages, but the challenge content is incorrect only in Japanese. And the challenge is not achieved.
Currently, if you do not set the console language to English, you will not know how to achieve the challenge.
By the way, this is not the first time.
It is necessary to proofread the Japanese Weekly Game mode explanations because the explanations are strange once a month.
In the Japanese community, someone will report every time a challenge is not achieved. I mean, I got a little used to it.

This means that when launching the Switch version, EA Help Support will be spammed with the same issue. It's a waste of valuable resources. I hope that the children will not be negative.

Daily Challenge Mistranslation

1.
EN: Going the Distance

JP:「最後までやり抜く」(Go through to the end)

This description is missing the subject.
This challenge has often been questioned.
How would you accomplish the challenge?
I'll repeat plant and zombie changes/spawns in Giddy Park to reduce travel distances quickly.

When: From 2019 Launch to now.

2.
EN: Win Ops as Support Class Role
JP:「スペシャリストでオプスに勝利」(Win Ops as Specialist)

This challenge has often been questioned.
A: What is a specialist?
B: Be patient because it's a buggy game.
We are tired of seeing this conversation.

When: From 2019 Launch to now.

Character Challenge Mistranslation

1.

Space Cadet & Acorn (July 2020)

I've tested in multiple languages, but the description is old (February 2020) in languages other than US/UK English.
This means that non-English players won't be able to complete the challenge until the end of the month.
There will be more spam on Twitter with the same issue.

When: July 2020

2.
Sunflower

EN: Get heal beam assist
JP:「ヒールビームアシストを受ける」(Get heal beam assist)

受ける means, It's an expression when someone gives me something.
This is the opposite, which means that many people couldn't achieve it.
Even if I use sunflower, Vanquish while being healed from someone's Sunflower did not count.
This challenge counts when you heal someone with a sunflower and someone gets a Vanquish.
or map pot (Tips)

When: From 2019 Launch to now.

3.
Super Brainz

EN: Land Hits with Charged Ultra Flying Fists.
JP:「ウルトラフライングゲンコツを当てる」(Land Hits with Ultra Flying Genkotsu)

ゲンコツ means,
Generally speaking, the punch when a child-abusing parent hits the child's head is called "Genkotsu".
In-game Japanese is written as "Ultra Flying Fist". 「ウルトラフライングフィスト」(same as english)
It's not a "Genkotsu". It either negatively affects your children or perhaps violates EA's policies.

When: From 2019 Launch to now.

Character Ability Mistranslation

Snapdragon

EN: Ventilation - Reduced overheat of Flame Blower and Flare Ball when Blue Blazes is launched.
JP: 換気 - 青い閃光の発射時、火吹きとフレアボールのオーバーヒートが低下する。(Ventilation - Reduced overheat of Flame Blower and Flare Ball when Blue Flash is launched.)

EN: Heat Seeking - Increases homing radius when Blue Blazes is launched.
JP: 夏の虫 - 青い閃光の発射時、追尾範囲が広がる。(Heat Seeking - Increases homing radius when Blue Flash is launched.)

The description of all of the UI is unified with a 青の爆炎 (Blue Blazes),
but the ability description is a 青い閃光 (Blue Flash)

When: From Founders Edition to now.

Rose

EN: Thistle Missile - Magic Thistles move faster.
JP: アザミミサイル - 魔法のアザミ発動中の移動スピードが上がる。 (Move faster when firing.)

When: From Founders Edition to now.

Attack Class Upgrade

Low Life - Gain health by earning a vanquish when at low health.

This upgrade does not work at all in PvE areas.
This is a PvP-only upgrade, but there is no description.
Many people are wasting costs or dying with Story and OPS.

When: From Founders Edition to now.

Story Area Mistranslation

Sundrop Hills

The first conversation when Ops is discovered will switch from Japanese to English and back to Japanese.
It is one of the ominous feelings that you will encounter with a high probability when you purchase Battle for Neighborville and play it for the first time.
Day 2... It's a buggy game, so let's wait...

When: From Founders Edition to now.

UI Sprit Screen (Guest Account)

The enter button on the Japanese console is a circle.
A circle is used to represent the correct answer, not a check mark.
If you press the circle button as instructed by the UI, it will be canceled.
You can join by pressing the X button. (UI screen shows cancellation)
For two online accounts it works perfectly. This is a bug in the guest account only.

When: From the time this feature was added in the update until now.

UI Carrying Objects

It is displayed as falling with the X button.
But you can jump and move, and you can drop with the circle button.

When: From Founders Edition to now.

Actually there are still many, but this is the Japanese major bug list I have recorded.
I hope these help the developers 🙌

I expected the translated text to change with each update, but it hasn't changed since September 2019.
And many pvz fans who were playing from the Founders Edition were disappointed with each update, and many left.
"I can't achieve the challenge" is the key word in Japanese.
If a new person bought or someone was in trouble, someone who knew the solution helped each other.
In fact, Plants vs. Zombies series are super-minor games in Japan and rarely known.

When GW1 was released, shooting games had a very small playing population, playing only enthusiastic people.
GW2 is not available in Japanese. This is probably because the game was not screened.
In some countries, beheading expressions have the same rating as GTA5. If it's a game for children, it can't be evaluated (cannot be sold).
Some missions have been deleted from the Japanese version of GTA5.
Only overseas game enthusiasts know the existence of Mortal Combat.
Ordinary gamers don't even know that GW2 was released. There is almost no context. Simply GW1 → BFN.
Since there is no decapitation/limb amputation expression in recent F2P games, it has a wide sales channel.
I remember playing GW2 Beta in the US account and playing Citron and Super Brainz.
In a special situation, BFN is better known than GW2.
I'm playing Citron and Super Brains on BFN for the first time in 3 years.
In other words, most Japanese who have experienced GW1 have played 12 characters for the first time and have played PvZ Shooter for the first time in 5-6 years.
For these reasons, we use GW1 when comparing something.

In a nutshell...
What is Turf Takeover? Where is Gardens & Graveyards?
What is Citron / Rose / Kernel Corn?
What is Nightcap / Snapdragon / Acorn?
What is Captain Deadbeard / Imp / Super Brainz?
What is 80's Action Hero / Electric Slide / Space Cadet?
It may be because of this that I don't get tired of playing almost every day.

Due to the influence of F2P games in recent years, the population of shooting games has increased, and a few people have known PvZ for the first time even when there are no advertisements.

Thank you for releasing the Japanese version again. I think that the proofreading of Japanese is good with GW1 style Japanese. 5 years ago, I had no trouble playing.
The conversation in story mode is very interesting. I enjoy reading every time when I help someone's story.
Only the mistakes of "Challenge" and "Gameplay description" stand out.
Some Japanese voices appear in this game, such as Cactus Potato Mine (Abu naaai! = Watch out!), but I like Zen Sensei's screams the most. Soiya saa! = shout when carrying a Mikoshi (not a coffin wwwww) at festival or playing a Japanese drum, or shout of a ninja in a low-budget historical drama. ソイヤ!(Soiya!)
Should I leave too?

When: From Founders Edition to now.
When you start BFN with the console setting language set to Japanese, you can see that the Founders Edition is not over.

@helianthusOne Thanks for the report, I've sent the information to the team for most of the translation issues.  Unfortunately a lot of translation issues may get missed unless a player reports it to us in English.  For the guest account UI issue, when I change my PS4 to japanese I see the text in the same place that you see it, but the button locations are in the reverse.  I was also not able to reproduce the x circle issue for the carrying objects one as well.

@anpangcontractor Thanks for investigating the problem.
This is a problem with consoles released in Japan, but it is really common to play Japanese versions of overseas games. In this regard, I think EA software has very few problems.
I saw it in the title of EA after a long time, so I reported it.
Regarding the operation UI that was implemented at the time of release and whether or not something was done, there is no problem because it corresponds to Japanese specifications.
Regarding the split screen of the guest account, there is no problem when viewing the UI from the console in Japan, and the operation is reversed.
It may be possible to deal with it by setting the internal code to be the same as the writing implemented from the time of first release, like "respawn" and "decision".
Don't worry too much, as this issue is widely known in the Japanese community and there are temporary workarounds available right after the update is implemented.
"It doesn't work... There are a lot of bugs, so let's quit now. Huh? I could split the screen www"
    It will look like.

    For Japanese domestic equipment,
    PS4 circle button/Xbox B button indicates selection/decision.
    PS4 X button/Xbox A button indicates cancel/back.
This is the same with Nintendo Switch, Button position concept is the also same.

Nintendo Switch A button indicates selection/decision.

Nintendo Switch B button indicates cancel/back.

Historically, from NES and SNES, the concept of place for selection/cancel button is the same.

Even if the Japanese version of the Switch version is released, when someone encounters a problem, it can be dealt with by google search (it is a common thing, so if you look at the PS4 solution, you can deal with Switch) too much please do not worry.

At elementary schools in Japan, when the teacher (Sensei = 先生, like Zen Sensei) gives a perfect score of 💯, the test sheet will be filled with large circles for each answer item. And next to the 100-point number, a full bloom flower 💮(Hanamaru = 花丸, 花:Hana means flower, 丸:Maru means circle) is attached. This is also the origin of this Emoji. Therefore, due to cultural background, electronic devices represent decisions with a circle.
Official government documents are, of course, circle, not checkmarks. A check mark indicates an incorrect answer.

The UI of the object is the opposite of the split screen pattern.
The UI I posted is from the PvE story area.
When carrying the Crystal Dog after defeating the Treasure Yeti/Marigold.
Beginners have a high chance of encountering.
In the UI, it is displayed when dropped with X, but it does not fall.
In the UI, it is displayed when you drop it with X, but it actually drops with a circle button.

    Today's screenshot

It's common knowledge that if you start your MindBlower with the Crystal Dog in hand, you can safely dash-jump to the well at ultra-high speed.
Even in this state, the UI display is the same, X jump is possible, in fact you can drop it with the circle button to destroy it.

    About mistranslation
It's a good idea to proofread all the text about characters, weekly and daily challenges with a third party who has experience playing games.
The Japanese of the translator at the challenge is not understood by the Japanese player.
This has created a lot of confusion almost every day, and of course today no one can achieve a character challenge until they do a Google search.
Not only the character/weekly, but also tired of seeing uncounted daily challenges and some of them silently leave.
I would appreciate your favor in order to avoid meaningless hate. If I spot a serious bug, I'll report it again to this thread 🙌

  • Since I encountered an issue in my Daily challenge,

I will explain the cause of the confusion of the mistranslation in #1.

EN: Win Ops as a Support Class Role
    JP:「スペシャリストのキャラを使いオプスで勝利」(Win Ops as a Specialist)

The rank name of the Japanese version is

    ☆☆☆☆☆ ビギナー: Beginner
    ⭐☆☆☆☆ アドバンス: Advance
    ⭐⭐☆☆☆ ベテラン: Veteran
    ⭐⭐⭐☆☆ エリート: Elite
    ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ エキスパート: Expert
    ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ マスター: Master

The rank name of the English version is

    ☆☆☆☆☆ Recruit
    ⭐☆☆☆☆ Advanced
    ⭐⭐☆☆☆ Specialist
    ⭐⭐⭐☆☆ Elite
    ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ Super Elite
    ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Master

The English version of the "Specialist" is equivalent to the Japanese version of the "Veteran."
The word "スペシャリスト: Specialist" does not appear anywhere in the Japanese version.

If you know that you are a "Veteran = Specialist" in English version, "Is this a Veteran rank-only challenge?"
    We were thus confused.
Of course, it is not counted even if you clear it.
If they all have a master rank, they are considered as impossible challenges.
    Next, change the challenge.

I've seen reports of strange translations several times in several local languages.
I can understand that it is not only the Japanese version that has similar problems.
Why people say Repairville. Some people can't quite put it into words.
Therefore, I think that once you proofread all the language versions, it will lead to less problems later.
When you have corrected the mistranslation, please state in the patch notes.
It's sad to see people go away with discouragement with every patch update.

    Suggestion

The conversation in the story and the Japanese expression of emotes are very interesting.

This Garden Party emote is usually "That's Cool" in the English version, but the Japanese version is "カッコエーヤン".
People who are familiar with local languages laugh when they see this.
「カッコエーヤン (same as かっこええやん): kakko eeyan」means "That's Cool (Kansai dialect)"
Using Kansai dialect in overseas games is really rare and I was interested.

Kansai is the western area of Japan and has Osaka, the second largest city in Japan.
Osaka is a city made up of baseball, comedy and food.
Although Kyoto is close, the Kansai dialect is quite different from the Kyoto dialect. Headquarters of Nintendo.
People in the Kansai region speak a very unique dialect that people in Tokyo can't speak because they are difficult.
It is also the center of many cultures, many comedians speak Kansai dialect, and ordinary people also speak comedy in their daily conversation.

Historically, many immigrants live, but it is a wonderful dialect that makes communication very smooth.
    Rhythm and intonation invite laughter.

Steven Seagal lived in Osaka for more than 10 years as a teenager and practiced martial arts. He speaks fluent Kansai dialect, so he is very popular.
His English-Japanese voice-over actor is Akio Otsuka (all voices of Snake in the Metal Gear Solid series).
By the way, it is the most famous gaming YouTuber in Japan that imitates Akio Otsuka's voice.
He uploaded the Founders Edition of BFN several times and then left.

Freezing during live streaming, the state of serious errors, and the lag before TTK changed are still exposed to about 3 million viewers.

Searching in Japanese will always sort that video series to the top. He has no malice.
When you release the Switch version, we recommend that you release it in perfect condition.
To be honest, I was afraid when I heard the news that the Switch version would be released.

Japanese people laugh a little when they see "kakko eeyan". Great choice of words
On the other hand, what was conspicuous was a terrible mistranslation of the game description.
Someday, when the mistranslation of the game description is corrected, the style and quality of the emotes are great, so keep it.
Seeing in all languages, "Beef Wellington" has cultural differences, so I think that many people do not understand the meaning unless you search wikipedia by Google search.

As you can see from the usage statistics in each language, it doesn't make sense, so it is one of the useless emotes that no one uses.

It is a frog in the well and a frog in the well.
Each language has its own fun, so please put in an expert advisor for each language and make something.
I saw "カッコエーヤン" and I loved this game more.
I often use this emote if someone is wearing a good looking costume.

I like the Canadian accent because it's cute. Thinking this way, the ideas of Emote are inexhaustible, right?
If there is something suitable for each culture, it makes me feel positive about the slight bug.
When I don't understand the meaning of beef wellington, it doesn't make sense if someone gives me the emote of beef wellington.
Maybe someone think about tea-bagging words, and then rage-quit. it's a seed of meaningless hate.
Or, no one says nothing to expose their ignorance because they don't know American culture Beef Wellington.
No one knows the beef wellington dish in Japan and various countries. And there is an emote that no one uses.

Or, without knowing the meaning, imitate someone on an American server and use it.
Like Ike's episode in South Park, like social adolescence, has no thought or philosophy, and is used as a defensive measure in order not to be left out of the same age group.
    What is fear?

Customers are located around the world, have their own local languages, and have a mix of cultures in immigrant countries and cities.
Beef Wellington is part of the result if entertainment is the bridge between the American generational gap and immigrants and multiculturalism.
Let's consider the previous stage of the result. He likes Kosher meat dishes, she also likes Halal meat dishes. At 2:00 midnight, he bake his proud bacon and enjoy the beer together.
By the way, after seeing John's Tweet, I wanted Oklahoma Joe's barbecue equipment. Made in Oklahoma and Texas-style ensembles... あんた最高やで!
I fully understood why he was appointed as a community manager. He is a poet.

Please value various roots. Needless to say, the ideas are inexhaustible.
And it leads to knowing each other. (When you use Texas Memes and Oklahoma Memes in Emote, Americans will get to know each other deeply and will have fun studying.)
It is useless if there is malicious intent. The Poop Emote eventually made the gaming community toxic.
At the time of implementation, the coding team was busy with a lot of work, bugs could not be fixed, and it may be a sign of stress in the graphics team.
Is Spaghetti Emote a rebellion by the graphic team to ridicule the spaghetti code of the coding team? just kidding.
Either way, the air has spread to the community. It was analyzed a lot.
What can you see on the road ahead?
I see more familiar and local Neighborville.

    No Reply Needed.

  • Hello 😉

Weekly Game Mode Mistranslation (July 2020 Week 3)

    Power Team Vanquish

    Challenge 3

EN: Get 3 Vanquishes while invincible in a single spawn [0/3]
JP: 一度の無敵状態中に、3回バンキッシュする (Vanquish 3 times in 1 invincible state [0/3])

July 2020 has bugs for 3 consecutive weeks.
The frequency of weekly challenges that cannot be progressed monthly is once or twice a month.
If you start up in Japanese, you can see that this state has continued from the founders edition & release time to the present.

I cleared "Vanquish 3 times in 1 invincible state" several times, but I think it's extremely difficult for beginners.
And to achieve this challenge you have to survive. (We don't know about "Single Spawn")
And the count goes back to 0 when someone vanquished me.
    We don't understand at all.
In the Japanese version, this is an infamous challenge, so not many people participate.
It takes a lot of time, so it's likely that you'll end the game and go to bed after you've achieved it.

When: From First Power Team Vanquish (November 26, 2019) to this week (July 15, 2020)

    #Repairville

    Other bugs

    1. When the map rotation is Z-Tech Oozevoir, no Crystal Dog will appear until the end of the match and no one will be able to complete the challenge.
    2. Only after the Crystal Dog's invincible time has expired is the UI dialog saying "Someone has it".

    #Repairville

    Opinion

We will propose without considering the bug.

Crystal dogs have an invincibility of only 14 seconds.
When implemented in November 2019, did you test play on every map rotation?
Only "Daisy Drive" is suitable for this rule. It takes a short time to reach the enemy from the spawn point.
This is a map of Ops that you can play during the installation when you first bought this game.

Don't you think "Get 3 Vanquishes while invincible in a single spawn" is too difficult for beginners?

Experienced player: It's not fun because you wander the map with a strategy that will never die.
Beginners: Achieving it during a single sortie is almost impossible because it requires deep knowledge of each map.

When the Weekly Game Mode was first implemented, and when it was in the Founders Edition, I often saw children cry in Live from Playstation.
The couple was playing PvE while calling "annoying". NPC's bullets are auto-aim, and both ends of the screen go dark immediately with damage expression.
Casual Mode was added on November 27, 2019 (Pre-TTK Patch).

What is the definition of difficulty?
An example is the early Battle Chest of Weirding Woods, but don't release anything you can't play and clear.
If you just want to bully the player, it's a psychopath.

Playing PvE in "Normal Mode" will give you a slightly softer experience than at the time.
Does that "Normal Mode" correspond to "What Mode" in other games?

The fact that PopCap Games no longer has personnel to adjust the system has been proved by a number of phenomena and hypotheses.
Good at graphic design, but the game doesn't work.

We recommend redefining the definition of difficulty.
    Please use each one properly.

We are not talking about branches or leaves. We are talking about the roots of thought.
    Where are you heading?
Is this work your abandoned child?
Still we want to save you.

    We Love PvZ
