PvZ heroes lost account because of wrong liked account

I started playing pvz heroes again about 2 months ago I linked my account with google play and the google play icon always popped up whe I booted up the game.

I wasnt able to join a multiplayer match yesterday and thought it was nothing, today I tried again and waited in queue for 5 minutes. I tried to reinstall the game thinking my account is linked and when the game booted up I was given the option of restoring my google play account but when the process was finished I was logged into an old account (that only completed the tutorial). 

Is there a way to recover my account and why was an old throwaway account linked to my google play when I was playing with the main account while I was linked?
