I'm glad that they are nerfing the abilities because nobody knows how to use the primary weapon. This will teach people to aim. This is very similar to people in PVZGW 1 where people always switch to the zombie side and use a football player and only tackle and throw the imp and never shoot with their main weapon.

If they just nerfed the imps abilities that would have been enough the rest seems like over kill

Yep, the Imp sounds mostly useless now. He was very strong in the beta but he kind of had to be, he was incredibly easy to kill. It feels like a bunch of uninformed players got killed by the legions of imps in the beta and just asked for nerfs instead of trying to figure out how to take them down. Honestly if you know what you're doing they went down super fast, minimal nerfs were needed.

The most played character was imp so of course that's what will kill you most of the time
Refreshing to hear that others feel the same way I do. Honestly I anticipated a lot of backlash for questioning the Imp's nerfs lol.
Impkata maybe could have used a slight nerf, but I felt that's what kind of gave the Imp a sort of glass cannon feel. When you take away a glass cannon's best weapon, well, what are you left with?
They even went as far as to nerf his primary weapon ammo?? Now when I catch someone with the gravity grenade, it sounds like I can empty a full clip on someone and still not kill them, not even the lowest HP characters. Heck, I'm wondering if that'd even do 50 percent damage to a Citron. Yeah, the more I think about it, the more I realize they went too far with Imp nerfs.
I hate to harp on this one thing, because most of the other adjustments are really good IMO. It just kind of bothers me a bit that they listened to the wrong people on this, just because they were so vocal. Reminds me of a recent situation with Street Fighter V, but I won't get started on that topic, because I could rant for several paragraphs about that topic lol.
why are you all complaining about impkata ability it dosen't take any skill to press 1 button and have 100% accuracy. Impkata has a damage reduction for some reason so its hard to kill the imp when they use impkata. and the gravity stop all abilities being used which dosen't make any sense. The imp already has a strong primary weapon but no one knows how to aim (if you play PVZGW 1 alot you know what I mean) how is reducing the clip of the imp nerfing if you already have too much bullets and have the ability to double jump and move so fast. It is hard to kill the imp when all they do is throw the gravity and just use impkata and go below you because you can't aim that low so it is not easy to kill imps. The imp can easily sneek in and is hard to aim at because of how small he is.

I don't think anyone is specifically saying that any of the Imp's nerfs are to blame, its the overall nerfing of the entire character that is concerning. He had a glass cannon thing going on and now he's more of a glass pellet gun. Also if you are good, killing an Imp is incredibly easy especially if you have any splash damage on your character.

We still need balancing for some characters as some people just complain and don't know how to play. Like people say that the kernal corn is weaker than the solider because of the bad accuracy. But the abilities are better than the solider. Now they make the accuracy better so now the kernel corn is better than the solider. People are complaining about the pirate drone being on the pirate instead of the engineer. People also complain about how bomb ability for it is weaker than the cactus. The reason the ability was given to captain dead beard is that he is a scouting unit like the catus and the drone takes less damage because it has 20 lives instead of 5 which is annoying to destroy it. People seem to be complaining that the plants are over powered because they only play as a zombie and don't know how to use them. The only character that is overpowered in the zombie team is the imp and they nerf it. People just don't play PVZGW 1 to know what is overpowered or not. Random people play beta because its free and when the game comes out they will never buy it as most are just kids. PVZGW is a kid/teen game. Not all feed back is accurate as most people don't know how to play.
@xcrimsonlegendx, I think you meant to say that the Chomper gained velocity rather than lost in your post.
Chomper:
Decreased Velocity from 6.8578124 m/s to 7 m/s
All these changes for these characters, but little to no love for the Chomper...
The speed and ammo reduction for the Imp may be questionable, but other than that the Imp still seems usable. I predict that the Imp will still be viable in the full game, despite the overwhelming amount of 'nerf text' displayed on the Imp.

I quoted it directly from the official post, so whatever they meant is what I posted. xP
- He was never easy to kill. If you were good with the imp, his ability to move across the screen and dodge attacks was unmatched. He was difficult to kill, and his weapons were very damaging. I loved the Imp because of that, but I also knew it needed a lot of rebalancing

Maybe I just have superior reflexes or something coming from games like Halo but I never at any point during the beta thought Imps were hard to hit. With a Peashooter you can just shoot in their general area and kill them within a few shots. My Cactus was taking them out in a single critical shot at times, Citron's beam makes short work of them too.

Imp is not overpowered. But if you think to slow speed by another second for using the ability ok. The imp is just as hard to hit as a peashooter or sunflower. Everyone quit hating on the imp. Chomper needs a extra bit of health and digestive fixes, and maybe a longer burrow.
- But you have to take skill level into effect as well. I doubt your cactus would have been hitting my Imp because I was extremely mobile. I was never on the ground for any longer than what i needed to be. The Imps best quality is his movement. These nerfs aren't going to make him terrible. It just brings him to a evem playing field
I'm surprised that Rose got buffs... granted some of her abilities were worthless, but her primary was OP. She's gonna be the "go to" plant for easy mode.

I was a little shocked too, her primary was very strong if you actually knew how to use it.
I got a chance to play with Rose last night. Went 29-4. Definitely easy mode with her. Although playing from her point of view I didn't notice too much difference from before. Time to kill seemed the same. One thing I noticed was that it seemed like I was dying while using Arcane Enigma. I don't recall taking damage in the Beta. I'll have to play against her to really get a feel for her power. As I stated in the previous post, I don't think she was in need of a buff... but I think +1 to +2 damage per shot would have been sufficient. I'd much rather see a buff to some of the Sunflower variant's damage.
I'll try to jump on again tonight and play some of the characters I've never used like Citron.
After playing Deadbeard, I'm noticing something... he's the only slow character with no ability that allows for escape. He quite literally can't outrun anything... chili bombs... other players... nothing. All star has his sprint tackle. Engineer has his jackhammer. Chomper has his burrow. Scientist has warp. Cactus may not have a means of escape, but at least he has a method of covering his escape and slowing down opposition with mines and tallnuts.
